Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

I have mostly done the same. I tend to buy the pieces from the things I enjoy. So far that has been Batman. I am waiting on the Returns version of Keaton. I am 30, but never really cared for the Reeve Superman. I always preferred the Dean Cain version. Cavil is now my movie Superman, so I want to own this one. Other stuff just depends on my love of the property. Like I am on the fence about The Crow. I love the film, but not sure if I love it enough to pay for that figure.
I've often seen stuff & thought, "..wow - nice piece.." but appreciating something on it's merits is different to actually wanting it.

The Crow is on my list - I've wanted a piece from that film for years. The other stuff that's been made to date never impressed me.

Fair enough about your preferred Superman - & that was my point earlier, it's about what we connect with personally. That's also the great thing about these timeless characters like Batman & Superman; their history is so deep, that there's something there for almost everyone to get into. :)

That's how i feel about the Terminator stuff. I love the films(1, 2, and if I'm bored 4), and think HT has done some great stuff. But actually wanting it on my shelf is another thing completely. Yet I did buy the DX04 Bruce Wayne, because i am a huge fan. So it all depends. I hope HT continues to diversify, and put out the quircky as well as the popular.

I think that might be the reason Iron man is such a big seller, the Iron man suits do look nice but I doubt the amount of people buying these figures are really diehard Iron man fans but rather can't resist how nice they look on a shelf!

I try to be selective and say yeah it looks nice but should I really buy if I am not much of a fan? Sometimes it is just so hard to resist the beauty of these figures, even if your not even a fan. :banghead

Yeah I am not much of a fan either, I like those movies but that dam EB BD Terminator looks so dam nice for me to pass on it. :gah:

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

I can understand that. The 89 Batmobile is my Grail piece. Mine is set to arrive Wednesday. But I still want this one and Roablock. After that I may take a break from collecting. HT may even make it easy for me, since I'm not the biggest IM fan. and I am purposfully avoiding colecting the Avengers stuff.(I do not want to open that can of worms). But this and Zod look nice. If they release Faora, that would get me excited.

Oh my not?! :monkey4

Hopefully yongkykun doesn't run into Davey during his fishing trip. It may make for a very bad day! :horror :panic: :lol

You're joking right? I'd love to meet up with Davey. Heck, I'd even join his crew so that I can do pirate stuff like raiding ships with HT containers :rotfl

Bwahahahaha!

Someone else mentioned the key.... I have a feeling this is going to be a diecast key, not plastic. I could get just the key cheaper, true but I do want the figure too. A true thing of beauty.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

I'm going to reserve judgement until we see more. I am holding out hope that Batman does not dominate this film. Or that they do not spend the entire film as enemies. And this is coming from a Batman obsessive. I think it can work. But Snyder and Goyer(i guess he's writing this) need to remember that despite their different approaches, these 2 are friends. They respect and admire each other. Jeph Loeb understood that when he wrote them together. Miller never does.

When Millar hits his stride, he's very good at what he does. The "Wanted" birth-of-a-supervillain series was legendary. Great stuff. At other times he can be really childish and annoying.

I am going to pick up "Jupiter's Legacy" when released as a TPB.... I am really curious about it. Looks interesting. But I just prefer TPBs.

I hope the key is die cast, though it wouldn't surprise me if it was plastic.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

I been trying to avoid this thread because it pains me to think of how long I still gotta wait for this figure. But I know that when the day comes that I get him, I'll be just as excited as I was the day I got to see the movie. :)

I think we are talking about 2 different people. I am talking about Frank Miller. You are talking about Mark Millar.

That's the same impression I've got. I think Ramatuelle got two different people confused. Plus, notice that one is Miller with an "E", and the other is Millar with an "A".

More time to save some money on other figures, mate.

Truth, sorry about that.

They say Miller writes all women as prostitutes, good, bad, major or minor character it matters not. I wonder if Lois Lane would end up as a call-girl with a newspaper job on the side, in the film. if Miller were writing, of course.

Never thought of that. I'd join the crew too if it meant securing me a HT Hulk even sooner! :nana: :duff
