Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

It took me a while to preorder this, I thought about it for a long time. Expensive as these figures are, they are never impulse purchases for me.

Have to say, I am still really stoked about getting this figure.

The good thing is...you always have a loooooooong time to decide on a pre-order.

Indeed that is true. FYI for everyone according to Hot Toys Japan site the expected release date for this & Jor-el is Feb 2014. Add on the average delay times of about 2 months so we should have both in hand by mid April 2014. Cheers everyone!:hi5:

Re: Hot Toys MMS200 - Man of Steel: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Exactly. It's not the vision we're *****ing about. It's the execution of the finer elements.

And I like Zimmer score way better. Sticking to any of the past Superman's would have been even worse.

Zimmer's score was ok, but doesn't have the bold sound of Williams's score. Not to mention when people hear Williams's score right away know it's Superman. Zimmer not so much. Also look at any other show/movie with references to Superman, the Williams score is played. For example Seinfeld when he raced his old high school buddy.

I think Zimmer tried too hard with MoS's music, to not be like previous SM films. As a background his score's fine, as long as you're prepared to accept that it's only ever going to be that same, endlessly repeated two note dirge.

The thing is Zimmer could easily have given MoS a decent and melodic theme, something classy but memorable, a motif that you could attach to a character like Superman that would instantly identify him. After all, he did it just fine for Kal-El's father....

I actually like the MOS theme quite a bit. It is the rest of the score that lacks for me.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

I think Zimmer's score for MOS is very good, but I'm not sure it was really utilized all that well in the film.

I personally love Zimmer's work on this. This and TDKR score too. Everyone has their preferences.

Oh there is nothing actually wrong with the score overall, it fits the visuals quite well.

But my reasoning was that SUPERMAN needed a stronger theme to his character, than what HZ gave him. That's why I said what I did, there is no more iconic a score than Williams' Superman theme so Zimmer didn't even try to compete.

I think this worked against it. Though I really do love this piece...

Pretty cool tribute video using clips from every Superman film, along with some Hans Zimmer music:

I see what you mean there. But let's face it, that original William's theme will most likely NEVER be topped. And I also agree, how can you compete with that anyway? :wink1:

I thought the drums were a great motif for Superman. They were distinct and fit the tone very well imo. In comparison to John Williams, it'll never be as iconic, but I think it served the film just as well as his score. It doesn't have to be melodic to be effective.

Well I did say that I liked this. And the more I Hear it, the more I like it...

I wouldn't mind either of those. Especially a Zod without his armor. Hopefully he comes with shackles so he can be posed like this...

That would be nice they would have to include a detachable cape which we did have for most of the movie except for the dream sequence

I just want them to hurry up and announce Faorah and for and extra special treat Jorel in his Armor

They need to milk this like they did Avenger crap the made every possible figure, what that 11 figures basically everybody except for Maria Hill

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Yeah Zod with the black suit and cape looked awesome. Too bad there wasn't more of that look in the film.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Finally broke down and ordered the Man of Steel. Used the SummersEnd coupon code and Flexed it. Happy to have him on order!
