Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

WOW! that's all I can say...ima little late to this game, but my Man of steel just got here today! he was delayed a few weeks cause I missed a flex pay by accident and then the winter weather delayed him even longer...but wow.....he's perfect. He's my first hottoys "male" figure....so of course he towers above all my ladies...LOL (considering all the HT's I have are: The Black Widow, Silk Specter, Ada Wong, and BabyDoll........) but still...he's frekin awesome! ima totally have to buy more...these are addicting...LOL I have Bruce Banner on order......but maybe I should get some more like The Wolverine...or Thor?!?!?!?

Wow, excellent pose Barry.
One thing I like about your ttm20 body is that it's more accurate as to Cavill's body. In the scene when he robs a bloke's clothes from the car you can clearly see his massive chest popping out and wobbling, but with the suit on his chest was flattened and he looked less bulky as the nature of the tightness if the suit on his body and thighs.

I really want to purchase a loose suit as I too have a spare ttm20 body and convert it. But having said that is that my biggest and main worry is that once I go ahead with it and then......buy the dark world Thor figure when it comes out, I do not know what to expect (if the new Thor figure will be new tall height or not?) because (if yes) that would mean my Superman will be a shorty compared to him and that is unacceptable.

How is your ttm20 Superman size compared to Avengers Thor?

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

I usually a lot myself 1 Hot Toys purchase per month.

Today I was sitting on Sideshow trying to decide between this and the new Sideshow Darth Vader, and I was worried that whatever one I didn't order would go out of stock.

So I did something that ive never ever done before and bought two figures at the same time. I justified it to myself by remembering that nothing was coming out next month that I wanted to buy. Cashed in all my rewards points and it came out to just under $350.

I may have a problem.......

Doesn't seem like you have a problem to me. You got two great figures heading your way and for a great deal, too:lecture

Haha, thanks. Yea I was only kind of saying that in jest, but it still always makes me feel guilty when I spend more than my "allowance". Especially when it comes right after a somewhat expensive valentines day and me just buying a pair of oakleys. There are only two more Hot Toys figures I intend to buy for the rest of the year, so its not like im going to go broke or anything.

Overall, im looking forward to getting them (hopefully) later in the week. Even though I wasn't a big fan of the movie, this figure is just too beautiful to pass up.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

I have performed the promised research;here are my results...
The figure used for comparison here is a standard HT body(currently wearing a Capt. Action Lone Ranger outfit). As you can see, the ankle ball on the standard body is about 1/2"off the sole;the highest point of the ankle is just under the 1"mark.

By comparison, the MOS ankle's LOWEST articulation is at the 1"mark;this alone accounts for over half the size difference. The standard body measures out at just under 12 1/4",while the MOS is exactly 13".Essentially,he's wearing lifts! The rest of the difference comes from a slightly longer torso. The head and neck are not appreciably larger than standard;limb proportions are also pretty close, except for the foot-ankle segment...PS

Mod complete, now to decide if I paint the piping?

Great job I personally don't miss the black piping one bit. IT was so distracting and when I finally saw the movie it got even worse.

I was just posing him a bit and have to agree now that the other paintjobs are done, the piping stands out a bit too much. Probably will tackle that tomorrow or Wednesday. Have come this far, why stop short?!

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Just ordered a cape from Mr Mei. Once it's in, the cape, collar, piping and gauntlet mods are inevitable. My question is: what type paint should I look for for the piping and gauntlets? Best type of brushes? I don't want the paint rubbing off or chipping in the future. Also, was there any primering or prep work before painting? Anyone have any step-by-step instructions on this sort of thing? Thanks!

Patience is your friend when it comes to the collar mod. Then, just make sure that the thinned out collar, gauntlets and piping area of the figure is clean. I know Tamiya is a favorite paint for modders, but it's my understanding that any decent quality acrylic paint will work. Just mix until you have what you want and you'll be on your way.

I got Banner, Wolverine, and both versions of Thor on pre-order currently. So yeah, join me and take the plunge!

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Sooo..I like my custom, but it's still just not there especially around the S so I evaluated the yellow and it seems a little off IMO

This was what I decided to do

For a start I'm going for this as a base, before I use yellow to give it that dirty look.

It's funny as soon as I did this, the red I did popped out to more screen accuracy IMO.

I hope I'm on the right track.

Here's the look under a bright light
