With both of mine it was the entire body. No head or hands. Don't destroy yours until you get the new one. My War Machine was a pain to destroy. DC figs are still much more plastic than DC but they are well built.

Ah ok. Do they send an entire body? Arms and legs? My email said torso but i cant at all fathom how to safely remove the limbs.

I definitely would enquire with them of how you're safely going to remove the torso and that's if they just send a torso cause again this isn't your fault for the faulty figure so best to be safe than sorry and break something g else that they wouldn't want to replace. Now they are removable it's a scary snap off but nothing broken-witnessed this through a video if you know about Danoby2 he's take off arms and legs of a HTs Iron Man figure like it was no problem and that was just to remove the wrapping at the thigh and hip area. But as someone else recommended don't destroy till you get another one. I've never gone through this process and hope I never have to. Best regards to you on the matter and that everything gets resolved smoothly.

I have a replacement body (no hands, no head) coming in this week but I can't recover the video I took of me destroying the defective body (no LEDs working in 5 spots). I know they said a service fee will be charged for any parts not destroyed or thrown away before approval of photos in the last email I got from them. Do you think I should tell them I can't even access the video to show proof? I don't mind paying the service fee if it's a small amount but if it's the cost of the entire new torso + limbs then I'm kinda screwed

That I'm not too sure cause I didn't expect the video to be unrecoverable. Hate when the small stuff doesn't work for ya. You can they're probably going to say your lost but I would still try. And inquire about the service fee to see how much it is. There should be none really cause you shouldn't be going through this crap remind them of that too you payed $354.99 or whatever you payed let's just say you didn't spend 10 pennies on it if you already sent them pics or video of defective body before destroying it then they should just except that and carry on they can't truly blot out their imperfection by having the customer destroy the product because the customer is the one experiencing the crap.

Yikes... well, hopefully they don't charge for an entire torso. Maybe just an arm and a leg :joy

Naw but seriously I'd be a little worried. No idea how they'd handle it, but the torso would appear to be the most expensive part of the figure. They sent me an extra shoulder rocket, but I suppose since it's such a small piece they didn't even bother to ask for proof of destruction.

Best of luck to you. Let us know how it goes.

LOL, good one @ SoGS.
Thanks for the responses you guys. I'll let you know what they say

They should charge you. I am sure they get tons of stories.

so want this as first IM, was plottin while on PO but now its available the price is giving me huge reservations bout pullin trigger, wish it had no diecast to be honest.

Is the expectation that the value will go up in cost over the next 12 months? I want one as my only Iron Man but I'm not prepared to start buying yet.

Well I know he's not Iron Man but close enough since he's diecast=War Machine, using Mk2 AoU WM as example, he didn't come with much just got a color change again yet his price was atrocious as months went by not even 12 so my advice it's now or a long later. Used is a fine choice too of course depending on the owners selling. Got my Iron Patriot used and the only way you could tell it was used were the joints in the legs which are quite loose after a budge. No regrets on him.

A good rule of thumb is expect to be able to resale (In excellent condition with box) for about %10 less than retail. It is pretty rare that you can sell a figure for profit these days.

What about for new and unopened ones? I had this fruitless discussion with someone selling a Hot Toys Rogue One Vader new on forums. Definitely hadn't been too long since it was out came out before movie but still late 2016 and I asked him about why the $350 tag, told him me and him both know it doesn't come with a bunch of accessories if anything ANH Vader should be that tag, this was like February 2017. His response I don't know but this is the price now for it and he was in the states. Was he just a scalper who's just saying that or was he right about the price and not going off other scalper prices?

If you are desperate to find a figure, expect to pay more. If you are desperate to sell a figure expect to get less.

I have found that if I wait long enough, I can always find a figure for less after release. With the obvious few notable exceptions -- this doesn't apply to everyone, everywhere, just my experience.

People can ask for whatever price they want, that doesn't mean that is what it is worth to anyone else. Watch ebay prices under the "sold" section and see what things go for (factoring in shipping), don't go by what people ask for. Most diecasts have lost quite a bit of value, not gain. They are already very high price as it is, the War Machine Mk 2, Patriot, Mk 42 can go for $100 below retail. Hot Rod went up, don't know if that is still the case, but its a rarer one. There will only be more of these figures going forward, with less and less "grail" pieces the demand is a lot more spread out. Its hard to imagine the prices going bonkers like they did years ago.

Some people pay more for unopened figures, but I personally would avoid those entirely unless there was quite a bargain. I have had so many QC issues with Hot Toys that I either want them from a retailer that will replace broken parts or opened and inspected by a third party. Sealed is just roulette for me, not worth it.

He can chrage whatever he wants to charge, it's your job as a buyer to be aware of the market for a particular figure. If you felt he was charging too much (in relation to the price that the figure typically moves at), then let him sit on RO Vader until he turns into a force ghost. To call him a scalper (if you meant it in a negative connotation), imo, is just a way to project your frustration of not being able to have it entirely your way. Find another seller or pay the ticket for admission.

To me, the perfect sale on the secondary market is one where both parties felt they could've done a little better. That situation is completely fluid and changes depending on individuals involved, and probably never happens unless it's a sale between individuals who know each other. And just as skillerwhale said it, desperation plays a huge role as well.

A desperate person who wants the sale to happen will always have the least leverage if the other party is competent.

This is what I was trying to say, but SoGS used better words. :lecture:rotfl
