Early reviews kind of made me go into it skeptical. But I very much enjoyed it.

If you watch it and you didn't see the other films your going to be completely lost. But if you did, you can definitely enjoy it since you can see all the links to Alien in there.

I would give it a 8.5/10.

I really want to know more about the

Protoxeno. Was it a Queen hatchling? We've never seen almost a fully grown Xeno come out of a body. Could it be the precursor to the modern day Xenomorph? After seeing it, I believe the Xeno's of the Alien franchise are by products of genetic splicing of human DNA, Engineer DNA, Giant Octopus Half Human/ Half Original Xeno DNA.

But the Protoxeno I don't think is quite cooked enough to be a regular Xenomorph. I guess the full evolution will be seen in the next one or two sequels.

In terms of price, it has got to be cheap.

It was so tiny, maybe 4-5 feet tall? Maybe the Engineers scoop up the hatchling and use it as the mold for improving the species so it can be controlled? It is the first of it's kind, and as we seen in Prometheus and Alien it wiped out the Engineers.

I thought I remember one 'kinda' referance to Aliens as opposed to just his film with the Weyland slogan 'Building better Worlds' - I thought that originated in Aliens, not the 1979 film.

I THINK so. I'm pretty sure he accepts Aliens part of the story. As for 3 and AR he looks at them as bastard children. Especially now with Prometheus, it basically negated the story in those anyway.

I don't have a problem with 3 being part of the same universe. Cameron was pissed off with it because they destroyed what he set up by the end of Aliens - the Ripley/Hicks/Newt family - but that has nothing to do with 3 being technically suited or not suited to be part of the same universe IMO.

Well, A3 imo is better than Aliens, I love Aliens, but they are horror / action movie, there is fear from aliens, but A3 is like 1st movie - where is fear from unknown...and family thing....you really wanted Alien 3 where they will fight against Aliens like one big happy family?

It's a GOOD thing that they killed off Hicks and Newt so carelessly.
Alien 3 is a masterpiece.

..and I'm pretty sure Ridley considers Aliens to be part of the same universe hence the whole Shaw/Yutani video that came up a few weeks ago.

Well, for me this movie is bastard children of Alien space =D Something like SWT for OT...killing magic and spirit of originals movie...
