Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Unless you are a HUGE Depp fan, I never understood the fascination with the Jack figure. I mean, it's nice, but it's no Murphy or Arnie, you know?

Oh well.

Personally I think HT's Sweeney Todd Depp sculpt is better then the DX Jack.
And yeah I'm not really a big POTC fan either.

Imo Alex Murphy and BD Robo sculpt are as close to perfection HT have come. I wish they had nailed BD Arnie from T1 like they did with this set.
:goodpost::exactly:
i still remember that first photo of an unfinished BD head, no face seen, and i thought: well, they'll ruin the face as usual with old movies, and face is a very important feature of this character.
and then BAM and they show complete photos of Robocop face AND Murphy face, and there is nothing to nitpick.
so they actually can sculpt caucasian faces, just normally don't want to.

I've considered selling that multiple times just to cash in on the demand for it. It's nice, but they went overboard so to speak, with his tan IMO.

What's stopped me was fear of regret, and my Wife substantiates that by telling me the same thing.

Without a shadow of a doubt. I remember seeing the BD head at the SDCC it premiered and seeing high res closeups and being floored by it. All I could think was "this is going to be the benchmark for all other sculpts." While that's correct, nothing has come even remotely close since. It almost puts a downer on everything else since it's such a huge step forward.

Love this figure. Picked up a custom stand

I agree with this. I love to rave about Blitzway's Carlito (which is simply incredible), but I don't think I'm out of line in saying this is the best 1/6 sculpt of all time, and may end up being the best ever. It's hard to see this being topped. How do you top perfection?

One of HT's best figures, but one thing that has always bothered me was the lack of damage to the torso. It's greyer, but no actual damage. By the end of the movie, it's clear some of the "ribs" have broken off.

Yeah, the damage is lighter than seen in the end of the film, and the paintjob is a little more conservative.

If be interested to know if they were targeting a specific time in the film--because Robo is more damaged in the boardroom than he is when the helmet first comes off in the steel mill. The figure's data spike is definitely from the boardroom scene seeing as it's covered in blood.

I like the matte black components mainly because they're more accurate to the film overall (Robo never really has that glossy black look until the second film). I would love to see someone do a custom of the clean figure with the matte black components and a repaint of the silver pieces to make a truly movie accurate figure.

OK, the last few pics in this thread broke me. Gonna sell off some things I don't care about any more and put the money into the BD two-pack.

What's a good price for it at this point?

I finally bought it 2-3 months back and am really glad I did. I was tracking ebay for awhile and the price seemed to be 350-400. Bbts amazingly still has them in stock for $405 and that is where I got mine.

Pretty much retail. I'd check these boards and jump on a deal if I were you.

As NICE as this is, is not going up in price anytime soon. It's not Batman/IM, so people clearly don't give a ****.

It might be sold out on most places, but it doesn't mean it skyrocketed in price.

Seriously gr8 pics :clap, they could be from the movie itself. Got to be up there with greatest ever sculpt by HT. :exactly:

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

remember to isolate his shiny metal ass from the "chair" or there will be trouble!
i see that his left butt hangs in the air, that's how it should be, be sure to check that they both do.

They both do. :lol But I didnt go with accuracy here. Just wanted to do that scene.

But why will there will be trouble?

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

because both regular and BD robocop's butts stick to anything, not just to HT chair. the chair is not the problem, the "metal" paint is.

soooo my fellow collectors, i sadly inform you that Robocop's paint sticks to everything, not just the chair's rubber.

he sat on a piece of fabric, it might be synthetic ok, but he still stuck - and got some black spots on his arse.

so i invented a new way to torment poor Murphy. i believe there was actually a variant of such torment in middle ages or earlier.
now he sits on a log (made from that fabric).

347w4et.jpg

turned the brightness up to show what can save it.
his hips, back or elbows don't touch anything.
3 points of... i don't know the word, but 3 points of contact to keep him in one pose: black scrotum part - and palms.

and yes, palms have pieces of cellophane under them as well. just in case.

and the worst part is that it is true for BD Robocop as well! he sat with his helmet in one hand and a mirror in another, and his arse stuck to the fabric as well.

luckily i can even glue one clean robocop to the chair completely because it's a separate figure for that one purpose, as well as BD Robocop, another lucky thing is that on Battle Damaged it looks... well, damaged.

but everybody else should be warned: sit your robocops carefully! no contact of "metal" paint with anything.
