No new pics or news obviously.
It seems Hot Toys has their hands full with all their licenses and it may be a looooong time before they get around to this one.
But what I've been debating is....do I need to buy this? I've had dozens of RoboCops over the years. This one would have to be the be-all and end-all of them all in order to justify what will probably be around $250-$300. And lord only knows how much Cain or an improved ED 209 would be!
My favorite Robo was the 7" McFarlane, despite any flaws. And I currently have the Figma on display....despite it's horrible lack of a face. I love that scale and would prefer an Ed or Cain to match, but who knows if that will ever happen. Maybe NECA is our only hope. But I digress...
I used to have a BIG plastic Robocop by Toy Island. The one with shiny blue vac-metal armor. You could take his brain out. He had a functioning spring loaded leg holster. It was cool, but didn't look real at all...just looked like a toy. I sold it after the McF came out.
I also have the original Horizon kits of Robo and Ed. Assembled but unpainted. I can't paint! But that is by far the best Peter Weller sculpt ever. The suit looks nice too.
So basically, for Hot Toys to really nail it and justify the price, it would have to be PERFECT.
The armor and suit would have to be exact, that's a no-brainer. And it would need a removable helmet or alternate head with Peter Weller's likeness (done as well as their 89 Keaton). The leg holster needs to be functional and at 1/6 scale, the data spike better be functional too and not a swap out piece. Interchangable damaged armor matching the damage from the first movie would be a must. As well as the Cobra rifle from his face-off with Ed at the end.
Hot Toys CAN deliver on all of this. And they should. If they do all that and have a product as good as the 89 Batman, I don't see how I could possibly resist.
