This shouldn't be compared to ANH...i was making the comparison between the chestbox on the R1 fig to the screen costum...and the buttons/slots look to be too small...

They're actually pretty close. I think in the pic you've quoted the flash is hiding the coin slot bases.

why don't you try to find the third release of the ss rotj darth vader ? and besides those gloves are from the wrong movie they are ANH style and not rotj style

Now that we've got more in hand pics, I'm glad to see my initial impression holds true: best out-of-the-box Vader figure by a good margin. Glad to see others think so too.

Personally, I'm loving the look of the figure. It obviously doesn't match any onscreen version from the OT, but it has a serious OT "vibe" or "look". I think what makes it work so well for me is that it looks like a mashup of ANH and ESB Vaders. And those two are the two "definitive" Vader looks in my book. That combined with the small detail improvements (such as getting the eye sockets painted black, better shaped shoulder bells, shin straps, etc.) really set this guy apart.

That's the point I've been trying to make its not supposed to match any on-screen Vader except the R1 so comparing the figure to any other is pointless

Are the cape and tunic a different material than on the ANH version?
They seem less shiny and with more texture.

I've been trying for a while cant find them but the hot toys hand are available ( i'm not worried about the accuracy to the film just the pose)

Oh awesome! The Velcro is just sewn onto the undersuit, and not onto the tunic as I expected. That makes things a whole lot easier now.

I was going to go that way, but the limp hand expressed a different ... RO side to Vader.

Disney really wants to soften him up.
