Help Support Collector Freaks Forum:
So still no one has taken a picture of the tunic out from under the armor...? What could it look like? Are the pleats sewn all the way up? Is there glue residue? Is the material pressed in a terrible way? Could it be perfect in every way...?

I don't see why Hot Toys would glue down the shoulder armor, or anything for that matter. Seems like more work than simply letting it sit on the body in layers. Unless they want to go out of their way to **** with modders and customizers (who will undoubtedly tear that **** apart anyway).

I think they do exactly that. So you'll be more inclined to buy the whole figure than spare parts.

They might have just been overly cautious and wanted to avoid the possibility of the chest armor riding up a bit, with all the different layers he's wearing.
Correct its a strong strip of Velcro at the front and it does come off

Thanks Nocternus for the great comparison pics.. If this is in any way suppossed to be screen accurate to ANH, then Disney really made a mess. Whether he changes costumes or not, what's up with his lightsaber?? Does he have a spare one or two of them also? It's got the longer grips from ROTS & ESB, an all black clamp like ROTS ANH & ROTJ, but a different side knob/button than any of them. Then the button strip on top is completely new and gold if you look at deanknights video, and it looks to have wires through the slots like ESB, but not the same colors?? WTF Disney?? Couldn't at least one thing be consistent? Must sell more toys!!! Guess they'll be a new Rogue One FX lightsaber too....

What's always funny on this forum is context. At one end we've got the guy who's never seen/handled a 1/6 Vader other than the Hasbro Action Collection one they got from eBay, while at the other end we have the guy who's spent 10+ years buying custom Vaders, the couple of Medi Vaders, then the Sideshow Vaders, and now the HT ones.
So one guy's like "it's a miracle!!!" and the other guy's like "eh, I want more." And they look at each other and go "WTF?!"
A very accurate observation, indeed.
Although I'm (happily) somewhere in the middle of that binary (i.e. not a HT noob, but neither an unrepentant cork-sniffer), personally I get a Return of the Jedi vibe from this RO Vader - likely due to the tunic, the shiny finish, etc. Jedi has rather flat lighting, which renders Vader clean, sleek and rather mundane (at least when compared to the rich colour palette and composition of The Empire Strikes Back). Even though the HT ANH Vader has issues (of either greater or lesser degree, as one sees fit), it always gives me a definite ANH vibe. Not so this new one (although judging from the limited clips we've seen thus far that's the fault of the Rogue One film as opposed to Hot Toys, one assumes).

Here's a comp of the ANH and RO boxes:
It's weird how they even went so far as to match the scratches on the grey switches yet the coin slots are different and noticeably differently spaced.
Yeah, while it looks better in a quick overall glance, it's just not a huge improvement over the ANH version. The "shine" of the RO helmet sets it off more and makes it seem more "Vader-esque" even if its not accurate for ANH.
The reddish tint is on the ANH mask, they've just added something silver behind it to make it visible this time.
This shouldn't be compared to ANH...i was making the comparison between the chestbox on the R1 fig to the screen costum...and the buttons/slots look to be too small...View attachment 308819

From Hong Kong, I don't think the blade is an exclusive as HT never published they would have the blade maybe that's where SS are getting confused, I do know this figure was delivered to Secret base a few weeks before they released it maybe the delay was because someone somewhere perhaps due to the reshoots told HT he needs a blade?
