Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I cannot for the life of me figure out why I am so hesitant to get The Amazing Spiderman. And the odd part is, Spidey is my favorite hero. I am actually a bit baffled. :dunno:dunno:slap:slap

He is not my favourite (Jean Grey FTW), but I do love Spidey and feel the same about the HT figure. It is as odd suit, that deviates from the iconic style, even if it has seriously grown on me since first revealed.

Plus I am on my way to see the film tonight, so I will see how I feel about the specific representation.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Ever since it was announced with that little teaser pic that was pulled I had been looking forward to this figure. Unfortunately I'm not at all impressed.

I know the USO costume was debunked a while back but for some reason I was still holding out. Where is the value in this thing? It's just a figure, a gun and a shield. That's $220 plus? That's outrageous to me. Sadly, that seems to be the norm. I can't wait until the average MSRP for regular 1/6 figures is $300.

This was THE Cap for me, the one I was really interested in but I don't think I can commit. I don't think I would feel too good paying that much for such a skimpy release. I like the helmet, I LOVE the 40s shield but I don't see how this warrants the price tag. Maybe if a second head was included along with USO gear, but, nah, this doesn't cut it.

i feel the same way..even discounting the uhhhh Evans "sculpt" the lack of another outfit and range of accessories makes the price tag laughable. I am a big Cap fan but pass......those who love it great..I think just another notch in HT's "we got by again...barely" wall

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I was really excited for this one, but I have to pass. $220 is alot for what I feel is just a unique headsculpt, shield, and helmet. Everything else is pretty basic - leather jacket, pants, two guns that came with the FA Cap.

I just paid $190 for the Avengers IM Mk6 and thought that was a steal with helmeted and RDJ headsculpts plus a ton of extra pieces and parts for the armor and light-up features.

This one just doesn't do enough for the price. Maybe if it were in the $190 ballpark, as well, I might have given it more consideration.

Why not order it at SSC?

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I ordered one, but I am seriously considering cancelling. The price is really too high for what this is IMHO. If Sideshow would make it possible for me to get this through my LCS, I would be far more interested. But once I pay shipping and tax my price will probably be right around $250 for this. Through my LCS it would be $180 or so.

I will give it a few more days and then decide. I wish they did Stealth Iron Man or Iron Patriot instead for their SDCC exclusive.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

You do realize this is con exclusive right?

You do realize that with California sales tax this would put it over $260

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

So this will only be available in the US?

I think the $219 price is pretty reasonable somewhat, considering that the Avengers Mark VI cost the same, and that was with reused parts. The USO Cap is a completely new figure and an SDCC exclusive.

There is blood in the waters at Ebay. Cheapest there is $350 shipped.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I don't get the prices there...why would anyone opt to make their purchase thru ebay when it's still available at sideshow lol

For the countries that aren't allowed to order these from Sideshow like Asian countries.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Just a thought...

Perhaps these high prices on various figures and not so high on other could be because HTs is spreading their R&D cost across all their lines? :huh

I say this because their prices have always fluctuated somewhat with some figures/items debuting at lower than expected prices, '89 Batmobile, while others, USO Cap, debuts at an inflated price.

HTs Toy Fair Exclusives tend to run on the high side...all companies charge more for their exclusives. But HTs, compared to SSCs, seems to have an extra bump on their prices beyond the "exclusivity" of the con.

I mean even figs like Iron Monger were cheaper than most expected. But others like Shadow Pred, Bruce Wayne Bats and this USO Cap all came in extra specially expensive. Perhaps they are absorbing the cost of other more expensive items. Stores do this type of thing all the time.
