Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Just a thought...

Perhaps these high prices on various figures and not so high on other could be because HTs is spreading their R&D cost across all their lines? :huh

I say this because their prices have always fluctuated somewhat with some figures/items debuting at lower than expected prices, '89 Batmobile, while others, USO Cap, debuts at an inflated price.

HTs Toy Fair Exclusives tend to run on the high side...all companies charge more for their exclusives. But HTs, compared to SSCs, seems to have an extra bump on their prices beyond the "exclusivity" of the con.

I mean even figs like Iron Monger were cheaper than most expected. But others like Shadow Pred, Bruce Wayne Bats and this USO Cap all came in extra specially expensive. Perhaps they are absorbing the cost of other more expensive items. Stores do this type of thing all the time.

No, I don't believe that's what's going on here. Again, the toy fair and convention "exclusives" are supposed to be made in smaller quantities than general releases. The higher price would reflect the fact that it costs more to break even (let alone generate a profit) when you are selling less items.

These figures need to come with a hooker.............its getting expensive

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Not to sure it worth the price, but there is a lot of new stuff with this figure, the jacket is great, the helmet is cool too. I like this look better than the avengers version. Its a cool piece and nice to have an unmasked captain in the collection. The outfit alone makes it better than the avengers version imo. Wonder what the box will look like.

+ I think the changing strength of each country"s currency (HK$ and US$) means that had the same HTs from 2-3 years ago be released today, they will be more expensive. Last but not least, I believe with each hike in prices, HT has always upped the ante in the sculpt/movie-likeness department. The stuffs produced today are so much better in quality (not necessarily durability) than those produced 2-3 years ago, imo.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I first saw this figure last January posted on another forum so I've been waiting for it and was just starting to give up hope of it being released. I see Chris Evans all the way his hairs flattened out and thinner for the helmet, looks like he needs some good shampoo and a blow dryer. But it's a great piece !

with the exception of this particular figure :monkey3

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

____ it... Ordered!

I messed around with the first figure, had a look at the Captain America Art Book and that was about enough to convince me. Will be nice having this next to the other two Caps. I believe this one has been ready for a while, who knows, maybe we will see it in a couple of weeks.... here's hoping!

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I think you also have to look at the popularity of Marvel right now. The Avengers really boosted Cap A (and everyone else) immensely. Had this figure been released before the Avengers movie (closer to when FA Cap was released), it wouldn't have been this much - even with the SDCC exclusive-ness. At most it would have been the same retail as FA Cap with maybe a $20 mark-up for SDCC. All told, $189 or maybe $199 tops. Avengers craze has boosted this figure to $200+ territory.

I hear you but that reason doesn't really hold water because a) We don't actually know that these are produced in smaller numbers due to HTs not releasing edition sizes and b) it doesn't explain away the many many Guardian Preds that were delivered to the wait list, the Shadow Preds still available and the extra long time it took for BW Bats to sell out. Not to mention all those Demon Bats/Scarecrow sets that showed up months after the con for much less than the secondary market price.

I think there's plenty of evidence that these aren't as "exclusive" as we're being told.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

The one thing I think they screwed up on with this figure is to not have a 'saluting' hand, could have had a great pose with that option.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

It's a nice piece but honestly it should have come with the matching motorcycle especially the fact that its an "exclusive" cmon guys.:gah:

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Did he ride a motorcycle while wearing this outfit? I need to watch the film again.

Won't be able salute with the muscle body anyway.

:goodpost:

I think "exclusive" means it's only sold at Sideshow but not reduced quatities made

Has it? I don't see the point of an articulation restricting muscle body for a fully clothed figure :dunno

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I hope the A's on the helmet aren't crooked.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

If they release the USO version that will give us 4 Cap figures I guess that would make a nice display

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Funny reading through comments in this thread about the sculpt. When Avengers Cap was shown all that crap about the maskless sculpt being terrible and not looking like Evans and now I read ppl saying how the Avengers maskless sculpt looks like Evans but this doesn't :dunno as if we didn't already know this was going to happen :lol
Do u have to be going to the con to get this? I'm from Canada would I be able to po this piece?

so this is a 2012 comic con ex but will not be there for pickup???
ships after comic con-----yes this makes sense---as much as bays tmnt are not mutants-------why do i feel like i am in a twilight zone ep------

To both of you guys and anyone else who doesn't seem to be in the know:):

SS has said quite a few times here and on their Facebook that ALL SDCC exclusive figures will NOT be available for pick up at the Con. ALL Con exclusive figures are to be shipped out before the Con with the exception of this Rescue Captain America figure.

PS: totally agree with you, Mojo, about tmnt being aliens instead of mutants in Bay's version. Such a stupid decision :slap

Nope. Jumped outta the plane and from the looks of it walked all the way back to base

They are releaseing it, thats what this is right:slap and 4, I only count 3, maybe I'm confused:dunno

Specs say 30 point articulation and the neck looks like the thick rubber muscle version.
