So the reason we don't have HT Endor, Hoth and Bespin Hans (or carbon frozen for that matter - that was mentioned as a "DX" Bespin) is because of "Solo"?:gah:

It's stunning to me that they've done two "young Han" figures from that movie yet none of the iconic OT Han looks other than smuggler/stormie.

Was just a theory but they seemed to never really have more than one Han figure on pre-order at once. ANH, TFA, then finally Stormie Han after a long delay. But they didn't give Luke the same treatment. They've released three old Luke figures and six different young figures (including the two Bespin ones) plus they've teased another two (Snowspeeder and v2 Bespin).

Luke is the new Han.

Yep, the more I think on it, the more it seems like Harrison's moment of hatred to what made him famous really rubbed HT the wrong way.

An interesting theory and at least plausible. But given how much money there?s to be made from some ESB Han figures, I?d be a little surprised if Howard cares *that* much. He?s a businessman. Sports cars to buy, models to date...

Given that they've released Bespin Luke, Hoth Leia, Bespin Leia, Endor Leia, Endor/Barge/DSII Luke, they should have released a Bespin Han by now given that it goes with the two Leia's and they previewed it already. They must have issues with the likeness or some kind of approval issue, they also must feel like they're running out of OT heroes 5 years into the license.

True... but some things mean more than money to the rich.

Yeah it does seem odd. Although once they produced the Hoth Leia and Jedi Luke it might have been easier just to knock out a bunch of other Luke and Leia figures first using those same sculpts.

Plus I'm sure it's no secret to them what a grail Bespin Han is for people, so they may want to take some extra time to get it right. Especially after their disappointing ANH Han.

I understand the thinking behind "strike when the iron is hot" but how many years and how many Sith Troopers must OT fans sit through before getting a lot of the more desirable(and marketable) characters. Zero OT unreleased figures up for preorder right now by the way.

The excuse of "OT will always sell" is getting tiring.

It?s really tiring because we should not have to wait another 2 years for bespin han and then another 4 to get Endor han. Ridiculous. They have a million iron man and spider man figures on the market all the time, so it is no excuse. I honestly think the failure of Disney trilogy figures have scaled hot toys Star Wars plans back. If it isn?t repaints like fett, then it is reused sculpts like Leia. Yes we got a good wicket and a mediocre Jawa.

They also reused Anakin and Obi wan. But notice how Jango got a new sculpt? I think thats the first new Star Wars sculpt we've seen in a while ( Ironically they should've just reused the Cody sculpt :rotfl)

No OT figures is really bothersome, just driving me nuts at this point. I like the Mandalorian a lot, but it's not replacement for the OT.

HT doesn't want to make what they likely consider obscure characters -- like Piett -- they like selling Lukes and Leias and troopers. Han must be an issue with Ford's likeness, makes no sense otherwise not to have one offered for years now.

Why they haven't made 3PO is beyond me though. Robot + China = $$$.... 3PO + US = $$$$.... it has to be something with the gold paint -- cost or problems chipping or scuffing in shipping. Too much damage risk and replacement costs for them to move ahead. But then you think, Iron Man has a lot of gold with no issue. I just don't get it.

I know I've mentioned this guy a bit, but a guy who works for Marvel Studios/Disney is in a few FB groups says it's all on Ford/his people not approving the sculpt. HT obviously wants to make him, they featured him a lot in the Bespin Leia promo pics.

Currently there are no OT POs on the horizon right now, Wicket/Leia was the last OT offering from them. Most of the pending figures are predominantly dominated by The Mandalorian/Prequel and Clone Wars, and the pattern seemingly continues as it is at least for the foreseeable future IMO.

So what's the hold up -- its not like HT can't sculpt. And "his people" clearly approved poor sculpts of Ford before (Han ANH, Indy), so what's the problem now?

Putting companion pieces in HT promo photos is an old trick that means nothing as far as something getting made -- tons of promo for Baze, other Shoretroopers, also Beehive (Airborne Trooper), various Threepio promos -- it goes on and on.

Yeah I don't buy that either. If he's prepared to throw around a figure of himself on Fallon, then he clearly doesn't give a s**t.

And I don't believe he did what he did because of a bad headsculpt either.

So why the holdup ?

I'm surprised that anyone is surprised by not having Bespin Han yet. HT is notorious for not finishing lines. People are casting stones at Marvel but Marvel fans are upset about a lot of key characters that HT has missed/skipped while pumping out Iron Man variant #1,001.

I hope that they'll get to him and other OT characters soon. In the meantime I'm going to enjoy the Mando, ST, and PT figures that we are getting. If those figures all do well it should be a clear indication to HT that there's still a lot of mileage in the Star Wars license.

So why the holdup?

Unfortunately we'll never know. There's a very frustrating lack of transparency with these things. Likeness approval, licensing issues, Harrison Ford's previous mistreatment of his own Hot Toys figure... those are all good guesses.

The Ford mistreatment one doesn't seem that far off base to me. You see so many images and videos of celebrities holding up HT figures from characters they've played and showing enthusiasm and enjoyment of the product. Ford acted like a child for a bit of shock value. Then again he's incredibly disconnected from the character, franchise, and fan base so it's not a surprise.

We've seen the prototype bar the HS in Leia promotion pics. That's really the only concrete thing we have to go off and anything otherwise is just indulging in conjecture.

Talking about conjecture, I'm sure he's close to front of the pipeline in terms of the next OT reveals.
