Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Figures from Episode I-VII + New Interviews

When I saw these this morning, I felt like this again...

Yup. I hope Sideshow keeps putting out droids and aliens, but I haven't felt this kind of excitement for main characters since 1980.

This is indeed the greatest day for 1/6 collectibles since SS announced Jedi Luke.
The thing that struck me about the announcement was the line "fans can expect a wide spectrum of high end collectibles"

Looks like HT are going to go all out for this line, and I'm in all the way.

I really hope they make Obi-Wan from ROTS. Such an awesome look, and the details of his hair and beard will be done right by HT.

Yup. Anyone who thought HT would fail with this line has been proved spectacularly wrong. To start out with an amazing furry Chewie is one hell of a statement.

Imagine what a HT Vader, Boba and Stormie will look like!!

Overjoyed we got Han and Chewie over pissypants PT Anakin.

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Figures from Episode I-VII + New Interviews

They are perfect in their imperfection.
Could they be better? Yes. But they are incredibly beautiful looking, very high end and stylised. As we had hoped HT is giving us Star Wars figures that blow every other companies human/chewbacca figures out of the water.

Once they fix Chewies eyes I will be happy.

Joyous day for OT freaks. :rock

:rock. Yes!

I'm not too concerned about Chewie, It's probably like teddy bear fur, synthetic on a fabric backing. So basically a hairy body suit. Should be fine I think. It's amazing the level of sophistication they have gotten into the colour and length of the fur though. Outstanding, apart from central face area.
See Rory.. I don't agree with you - on two things:

1. - They're stylized?? Nah. The faces aren't 100% yet - that's the accurate way to describe them. HT Bespin Luke has a stylized pre-battle head; that amalgam of 77 Hamill, mixed with post accident Hamill in 1980 gear. SSC Bossk is very stylized; EU head, & weird elongated proportions with a missing crotch. These are pretty close to their film counterparts already.

2. - Chewie will be ok? Maybe.. & maybe not. You use the teddy bear example, & these aren't meant to be anywhere NEAR that sturdy mate. The best sturdy HT pieces degrade in places after a while. :lol

Chewie will be a ripper aesthetically.. but will definitely get ragged over time.

I want farmboy Luke and best if he comes with a moisture vaporizer! :D

Those are a couple of the best SW 1/6 I've seen, but I get the same feeling looking at Han as I do from Bespin Luke...amazing action figure but the likeness is just a bit off.

In one of those shots Han looks a bit like Ben Stiller.

Not sure how I feel about them in that respect...but of course they blow other stuff out of the water.

I'm not a Hot Toys aficionado...do they work a lot on sculpts after showing initial teaser/prototype photos?

I've seen their other offerings and know they're capable of creating dead-on likenesses at times...

:goodpost:

Canceling my SS SW figs for now. I'm not made outta $ I gotta pick and choose and HT wins!

YES! :rock the droids, troopers and background characters will still be good SS spending. The Main characters need to be bought from HT from what I've seen in those two previews!

I was wrong about the Ben Stiller comment; just looked at the photos on the big screen and it's much closer than it looked on my phone. ;)
