Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

well, as much as people are talking about dumping them for these, that means a flooded market. and noone is going to pay 200+ for the old ones if the newer ones are even close to that price.

conversely, if this is all talk, and people are not really planning on dumping them, then they likely will not go down in price much.

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

I'm not dumping mine to make a hundred bucks ahead of a figure that might not be on my shelf for a year.

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

I hate when people dump on older things when a new shiny toy comes along. It's just too easy to do.

These new Hot Toys ones look nice and will probably be better, but they should be better, they're 8 years older than the Sideshow versions. It will only be a matter of time before the Hot Toys ones become "out dated" themselves. If I paid $89 for the original Sideshow Stormie and the prices plummeted on the secondary market, I would probably just keep it. They'd make nice background flanks to these Hot Toys ones and still fit. Look at the stills and pics of the actual 77' troopers, the background guys all look a little different due to the stunt vs. hero outfits.

I always thought the Stormtrooper, Sandtrooper and aliens were some of the better figures Sideshow had done. I hope this phase of treating Sideshow like the red headed step child of the family end soon, it just isn't necessary.

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

To be fair there have been a number of complaints about the Sideshow Stormtroopers from day one, but up to this point they were still the clear winner when it came to a 1/6 Stormtrooper right out of the box. Marmit's are a bit nicer in some ways, but you need to do some work or swap in a few of the Sideshow parts to bump them up a bit.

I'm just hoping HT did their homework (which they usually do) and try to improve on the shortcomings of the Sideshow figures.

re: Hot Toys Star Wars Stormtroopers

VIP party? Wonder why they revealed these as opposed to Jedi Luke/Vader set?
B/c there is no Jedi Luke/Vader set planned? :D Jack's said there's a Vader and a Jedi Luke planned, but no-one's talked about them being a set. If they were, that would imply an ESB/ROTJ Vader, and I don't see that happening. HT's only choice is go with ANH Vader, so doesn't make any sense to me as a set w/ROTJ Luke.

re: Hot Toys Star Wars Stormtroopers

I was disappointed we didn't see a mouse droid with the Han/Chewie set, so it's cool to know it's on the way with the Stormies.

So far Bespin Luke has been a set, Han Solo and Chewbacca has been a set, and the Stormtroopers have been a set. I'd say it's likely that the next Star Wars figure release will be a . . . set.

Like Hot Toys would care about putting a '77 Vader with a Jedi Luke. These guys make idealized versions of things all the time. A color button and an outer robe probably means nothing to them. :lol

Then why not Bespin Luke with Battle Damaged Farmboy Luke and Smuggler Han with ROTJ Chewie? They've all been from the same movie, so don't think they're suddenly going to switch it up now. I'll bet you one million credits (US dollar value: $0 :D) on that, DiFabio!!

PS - What about an ANH Vader with... Tarkin? Now that would make sense! Throw in an Interrogator Droid as the set exclusive. Practically writes itself!

I think the sets would be Vader/Obi-Wan and Luke/Leia
Missed your post, Lu, but yes, ANH Vader and Old Ben would be a super strong set. Ben could be cool bundled in w/ANH Luke, too, though I guess that makes Leia the odd person out. Much to speculate on, we have...

I'm just saying, if they do make a Vader/Luke set, I wouldn't put it past Hot Toys to simply put '77 Vader in there with a Jedi Luke.

re: Hot Toys Star Wars Stormtroopers

I hear ya. While I wouldn't put it past them, it would be a bit of a deviation from these three releases. I'm hoping for something like BD Robo/Alex Murphy, where they release ANH Vader by himself or bundled with Tarkin. Not sure Tarkin is strong enough to warrant his own release but it would be a really strong two-pack, IMO.

I could get into getting a Tarkin figure. He has a lot of presence.
