Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

No matter how much you hate any or all parts of the armor, the body is absolutely, and universally, derided - it is a complete POS.

:exactly:

I think Hot Toys knitted a rag doll and Sideshow slapped some armour onto it.

:lecture

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

I'm inclined to agree. I have a deluxe 212th clone that can't hold up his weapon. What good is that nice armor and stuff when the ****ing figure can't hold up the arms and keep them up?

Well, the armour sucks.. but yeah, you are right about the bodies.

I had a SSC Sandie Corporal that was as loose as a goose.

Got rid of it quick smart.

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

Well, I only have the Orange Sandies and Commander Cody and in both cases the armor is loosey-goosey and difficult to keep in place. Maybe with the 100+ clones they made they improved the looseness. Still rigid plastic though.

Yes, the bodies eventually got tighter and I think later Clones had a thicker body suit and velcro on the thighs to keep the armor more in place, but even then still pretty loosey-goosey. Kind of a opposite problem with the Medicom Clones... the armor on them was so tight you could barely pose the figure. Their Stormtroopers were pretty nice as long as you liked a Stormtrooper being played by a 13 year old boy :lol

I have a feeling HT will be able to split the difference and deliver one hell of a Stormtrooper :rock

Thats what I recall Hot Toys was body and Olaf had designed the armor.

Yep, HT designed the body... for awhile the HT logo appeared on the bottom of figures that used that body, however at some point that stopped even though the body was the same :huh

On later figure it was actually well made, but those early ones were just rag dolls... but seems around the time they switched to the ribbed clone suits they also improved the QC on the body. Sadly it was too late to help out the Stormtroopers unless you wanted to mess with a body swap.

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

I don't think the fact that the bodies were loosey goosey is any fault of HTs. The body is pretty well designed. It's the manufacturing and assembling that's at fault. Even though I'm passing, I'm still looking forward to seeing these in hand, how they feel (substantial? Well constructed?) and seeing how they really pose in the hands of us collectors.

Hang on, you've been blasting on about how stupid we all are to expect HT Star Wars releases to be any better than Sideshows. Have you gotten off the fence and walked around to the other side? Or just changed your opinion to join the winning side?

Even the recent SS clones can't keep their thigh armour up. Maybe HT will instruct SS how to make Imperial garters.

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

Are people actually defending the SSC version? I ask, cause I am too lazy to review every page...

SSC version had a lot of issues, the least of which was the base body. Armor, helmet....all wonky. Best part were the weapons and the stand

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

If a figure needs a stand, it's a fail right there. And that's due to the body. ;)

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

Your digging a hole, nailing the timber planks together and pulling the dirt in on top of yourself.
:lol

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

Still, for $90 the Sideshow Stormtrooper was a solid buy... I never regretted owning them and just sold an opened exclusive on eBay for $220 :lol

Of course! I did the same myself, but saying or suggesting that this 2014 HT version is subpar or somehow lesser than that $90 SS figure is just downright crazy or trolling.

Exactly.....and for the few seemingly saying the HT is 'meh' they haven't backed up with their reasons........? Body work looks solid, but I can see how the top part of the dome maybe a little too rounded...? i dunno. Looks pretty sharp to my eyes

You could have held out for more on eBay.

I'll display this two pack next to my SSC and Marmit troopers (already on different bodies), so I won't be unloading anything I already have. Keeping my fingers crossed that a 3-pack Sandtrooper set shows up and those will be displayed with my SSC and Marmits as well.

Has anyone said that? I only recall a few people sating they want cleaner pictures to decide for themselves how accurate the armor is overall. That sounds totally reasonable to me. You're quoting Rory in your message, but he's off in his own world and no one know at all what he's on about half the time, let alone today specifically.

For my own collection, these look good enough to go on my wanted list right now.

Yeah, these new ones look great... I'm definitely on board for a pair :rock :rock
