1/6 Hot Toys Stormtroopers Deluxe Version MMS514/515

I had no idea the ANH version was considered sub-par.
I like the look of this one, but I'm not a fan of the black mouth, I always liked the teeth better.

I'm sure there are inaccuracies that I'm not aware of, but I really like the HT ANH stormies.

I know about the inaccuracies and I still don't think the ANH versions are sub-par

I like both the new and ANH stormtroopers. Both versions represent my memory of the troopers perfectly.
To be honest I didn't even know that there are differences through the movies...

Yeah it's a good thing that you can reverse the panel whenever you like.

But I was hoping to get 4 panels (with 2 deluxe) to get one side of my shelf covered.

Speaking of helmets, and forgive me for mentioning the unmentionable in a Hot Toys thread... but just how inaccurate are the Sideshow helmets? I know the respirators were pretty bad, but other than that, how inaccurate are they, actually?

They are worse than Hot Toys for sure. The most pregnant issue were the huge lateral tubes. The best unmodded 1/6 remain the Marmit helmets, though a bit on the soft side. And the old Gentle Giant mini-bust, which was scanned from a screen used helmet, but is a bit undersized, and the mic tips are protruding a bit too much

If the Sideshow Speeder Bike is a $300 piece of plastic, what do people think the HT Speeder Bike is going to be?! At best a $400 piece of plastic. Even with this Stormtrooper happening, if they don’t have Endor Luke and Leia happening just yet then I don’t see a HT Scout happening any time soon. Surely they would arrive first.

I think the Sideshow Scout is still available so it'll likely be a while for the HTs version to come out.

It’s actually only just been rereleased. If that adds any kind of block to HT’s potential release I’m not sure but these will be available for a while I think. After the handing over of the Snowtrooper Commander to SSC I don’t see why HT would go for a specialist Trooper like the Scout. TKs are a different matter.

The Scout is highly popular. I don't think HTs will just hand it over to SS in this case. It's either a licensing issue or HTs has too many other figures to make. I think Luke and Leia will be next for Endor.

Yeah. If they'd been up for PO already I'd be more inclined to think the Scout would be somewhere in the near future. Until they go up I can't see it happening. Although I'm surprised the Bespin Leia wasn't immediately followed up by the Bespin Han so I have no idea what the logic behind their release schedule is. This trooper would have been the perfect opportunity to just hint at a Scout in the background of the forest shots.

Haha I like it. However I think I'd put Ewoks further up the line. For all those collectors getting Endor Leia a Wicket would be a logical companion figure. Scout Trooper is a difficult one. If I was HT and knew SS already had one out for a looong time I'd be hesitant. But then I'm not sure how far SS penetrates the Asian collecting market.

You can get SS stuff through the HT stores and most toy stores (1/6 figs) fairly easy so it’s not like they are not reaching potential customers. HTs can start off by giving their scout a sniper rifle. I am waiting on the HT version and they are releasing just enough figures to keep me from thinking about the SS scout.

Yeah my SS Scout inherited the longer rifle from the Hoth Snow Trooper 2 pack.

Disappointed that they chose to resculpt the helmet. The proto looked a decent effort at the ROTJ look, now it looks like a strange type of hybrid. I’ll still be ordering a regular though.

Same here. The ROTJ / Special Edition Stormtrooper helmet is my favourite - I prefer the solid black mouth over the grey teeth grill.

So you are arguing that demand should never affect the price of goods no matter how old or scarce? That a potential seller should take less money than what others are willing to pay because the original retail price should be respected? Good luck with that one guy I mean just think about that and how ridiculous it actually is.

I am yeah. That's how the world works outside of your mind. If you want to drop your pants and be shafted by a scalper that's up to you, but not me.

Also fyi, some retailers do in fact raise the price of hot figures they have in stock.

You never know what they paid for them, that said, in the UK Forbidden Planet sells new UK stock at ebay prices and they have massive buying power being a nationwide retail chain so they are adding a premium for the privilege of being able to see the figure in a display case before you buy.
