Some directors operate autonomously, and some directors operated as an extension of the producer's will (Richard Marquand on ROTJ). The reality is usually somewhere in the middle.

In the case of Man of Steel Snyder is shooting a script by David Goyer based on a story by the Nolans. So there is a collaboration here as well. It would be untrue to call it "100% Snyder's film". If Snyder had written the story I'd let you get away with that claim.

It will be a Zack Synder film. They would not hire a film maker with such a strong style (like it or loathe it) to do anything but what he does naturally. They hired him because he works quickly and brings the projects in on time. And his movies are reasonably profitable.
Otherwise they would have lost the rights to Superman. Warners have a contract with Synder, he has a picture deal with them. I know, trust me.

it is and will be a Zack Synder film.
I like watchmen, despite its faults. But I really don't think his style is right for Superman, but time will tell.

You're taking what I said too literally. What I mean is that as soon as the movie starts filming it will be Zack's to shoot/make/edit however he sees fit. That was the deal.

And I'll admit I need to let go of thinking of it as a Nolan film. I do hope that Snyder uses a little less of the MTV look when he makes this film, however. 300 was a fun movie, but a little synthetic looking sometimes.

Yeah and Irish knows best coz he was at the table when the deal was signed :lecture

:lol No, of course I wasn't. But Wesley, Debbie & Zack were certainly in those meetings. And so far I have never had a reason not to trust their word on anything.

Well, why everybody waits for word on how long we all have to wait on this figure plus how long it will be until Man of Steel, I recommend watching "All Star Superman" from DC Animated. Just saw it tonight and I'm proud to say its the VERY BEST animated effort from DC that I've ever seen. It is a truly wonderful Superman film. Cannot wait to watch it again.

I've resisted posting here so far but...
:gah: I'm really getting tired of this damnable waiting :impatient:

I admit I'm more exited by the Nolan's involvement in MOS than Snyder's. I tend to think of it as a Nolan film for this reason.

Even though it's been answered let's me throw in that Nolan's involvement is already over. Nolan was in charge of scripting with Goyer and then finding a director, so if Nolan has faith in Snyder why wouldn't we? After that Nolan bolted. Cavill's casting was all Snyder and so will the rest of the process. This will be a Nolan film as much as the new Vaughn X-Men: First Class will be a Singer film since Singer is also producing that.

Surprised there are no tantrums that hot toys didn't show their figure at toy fair....

even considering they have no presence there.

:lol
