the idea is to maximize sales, and if I were the CEO of dc comics, making money from both the Mattel 1/6th superman, AND the hot toys superman, i'd see to it that the Hot toys superman was not shown until AFTER the Mattel one went on sale. The reason behind this would be to keep the Hot toys superman from overshadowing, and thus, hurting sales of the Mattel one.

and say what you want about Mattel, but for 60$, their superman is really good.

Works quite well as a comic book superman IMO..

personally, i plan to get both.

Again....all speculation at this point. Unless someone can provide factual link where this will actualy happen ...there will be no merit to these points.

The Mattel Superman goes on sale December 15th, though they might bump it closer to December 10yth, they've done that before.

My money is on supes not being revealed until after December the 15th.

HT and Mattel are targeting separate demographics. The Mattel toy is going after Wal-Mart and Target shoppers who would never dream of paying 200 dollars for a doll. HT isn't targeting this type of buyer.

Mattel will crank out huge numbers (comparatively) while claiming to be a collectable. The end product will have Superman II on the box, but will only be a mediocre resemblance to Reeve. Does Mattel even have Reeve's likeness rights? HT does.

It could be argued HT has already overshadowed the Mattel offering. If DC were going to place a gag order in HT's license regarding the Mattel product there wouldn't have been an announcement yet.

I have 2 business degree's and purely hypothetical does not work in the business world . As I stated earlier one business model really has nothing to do with the other..

collector vs Toy...that's what I am driving at. Now if you think that's the way they devised it ...then its time to show proof in the pudding. Other than its pointless .

Oh good point ...I beleive that Hot toys make some of DC's products...Just look at the Darknight and Joker Figures...first came Hot Toys and then shortly DC. The quality was pretty good on the DC versions...and of course lower priced.

I'll be waiting for the Hot Toys figure.

I don't like this. Poor likeness of Reeve's face (if it's even supposed to be Reeve. I have yet to see Mattel use Reeve's name.). Too skinny. Short cape. Those look like 'F--- Me' boots.

The face sculpt of Zod is pretty good. I expect there will be some kit bashing using that figure.

Check the image of Mattel's Superman above the one you just posted... its been improved greatly since that initial image was released.

Still very far off from what HT will likely deliver, but much better than the above anorexic version

Ht will exchange only some of these bodies and re-release a V 2.0 for Dc direct. The orignal leak will no longer be a problem, but a second leak will begin to appear in the back region. After all this, peeps will continue to pay mass cash for Reeves Supes and on the secondary market, the price will double. Sound familiar?

Me too! But the bats problems REALLY left a bad taste in my mouth toward HT. If HT learned their lesson though, im sure this will be oil free!
