Re: Hot Toys Superman

If by next week we don't see a teaser image or whatever from this statue than is official Arnie Kim is having problem with Christopher Reeve Sculpt!
:dunno

Sorry this is me frustrated:gah:

Re: Hot Toys Superman

Apologies if this has already been discussed but I didn't feel like looking through almost 1000 posts to find it - has PERS been confirmed for this figure? If not, is there any reason you would be pushing for it to be included? On both Joker and Batman DX the eyes seemed a bit too large - have they managed PERS on a figure yet where it has looked completely natural?

It´ll be a DX, so it HAS to have PERS.

Haven't heard any complaints about the pers eyes on DX Michael Jackson or DX Bruce Lee.

Re: Hot Toys Superman

personally dont want pers on my supes. aussieinnyc is right, the pers always make the eyes look big, like they're gawking. it's ok for insane characters, so i dont mind it much in dx joker. but reeve has a calm face, and his supes is super calm(for the most part). a pers would only be a detriment.

Re: Hot Toys Superman

PERS is part of what makes a DX a DX.
Every DX has had PERS
so it's a safe bet this one will too.

Re: Hot Toys Superman

Remember that Arnie Kim is in charge of the Supes sculpt, and he's experienced with sculpting portraits that use moveable eyes (Enterbay's Bruce and Mr. Bean) without making them appear too large, so I think we can rest assured that he'll take that expertise and apply it to HT figures and perhaps even give them some pointers in that regard.

Re: Hot Toys Superman

I'm sure all will be well with this fig. Just need to come up with some money to get it. Either way, I will get it. Even if I have to sacrifice something. If it's a DX, it will most likely have PERS eyes. It is part of the features with the DX line.

Re: Hot Toys Superman

I could give them pointers in that regard. I could complain about the MJ pers, and the Enterbay eye system as well, if that makes anyone happier.

Enterbay control mechanism is hampered by the shelf under it. It doesn't allow for the mechanism to move into an area where it'd make the eyes of the figure look up. People have complained that HT's MJ figures eyes are a major source of why the sculpt doesn't look like Michael. It's because their PERS system doesn't allow the eyes a wide enough range of movement, where you can position them, so more of the whites are seen under the irises, which would've possibly quelled that particular likeness argument. An argument mostly pursued by people who don't have the figure, but the argument having some merit in any case.

The DX Bruce isn't out, so no complaint there. Yet. :lol

I'd reckon Hot Toys would have seen some of Arnie Kims Superman sculpts before just handing him the opportunity to do this widely anticipated Reeve sculpt. I think it is likely being delayed while trying to gain the licensor's final approval, apart from finalising all the detail that will create a collector uproar if anything isn't done to perfection. Be virtuous, be patient.

Re: Hot Toys Superman

hey HOT TOYS I still want L.E.D lights on the eyes  and a stand like tony starks mech test ...and an expresion of im gonna kick your a ss angry supes sculpt....

Re: Hot Toys Superman

And now why is that complete BS?!
Every DX had PERS and since this gonna be Chris Reeve Superman, give me one logic point why this is NOT gonna have PERS?!

I am sure it will have PERS cause as you pointed out every DX figure has it but Chris Reeve doesnt need PERS....infact they didn't invent PERS for characters who are known to move their eyes in a film, that would be a stupid reason. Its an added interactivity to the figure thats all. If you think about they don't have to include PERS with the Superman figure. If anything its going to take away the realism off the face sculpt, unless they have improved the eye's.
I hope they show images by at least december and aim for a spring or summer release for this fig....take your time hot toys and make this one good !!!!

Obviously the fact that every DX so far has had PERS has set a precedent.

But people taking it as a given that evry DX WILL ALWAYS have PERS is BS. DX is about pushing the format further with new ideas/concepts and features.

As I mentioned though, I predict it will have PERS also.

You know there is some contradiction there, for me a DX is simply putting PERS in the figure and ad more accessories in the mix, and a more deluxe box, but the sculpt and the finish product is the same in all of they're products.

For example 300 Leonidas for me is a DX the only thing it is missing is the PERS and the same goes to HT Hellboy what do you think? :lecture

Same goes for the T2 figures really, or even the BD Iron Man
