If they hadn't rushed the DX 12 out so fast, I would have been curious to see what we would have gotten instead.

This is the reason I never bought two. You just know there's going to be a version 2. Look how quickly the previous version is flogged when a newer head sculpt is revealed. It's only as good as the last release.

Do you guys think HT will start doing multiple versions for their QS figures? I hope not because that's one of the main reasons I never started collecting 1/6 scale.

As long as they have the Batman license, multiples from them will never surprise me.

We're probably due for another Bale Batman announcement a month or two from now.

I hope you guys are wrong. I haven't experienced it yet since I only collect QS, but I'd imagine that would be the most frustrating thing for a collector... to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a collectible, only to have it become obsolete a few short months later.

Just looking at both qs and the dx. The only thing I like better on my dx is the way the suit fits around his abdominal area. Looks better on the dx.

Do you know where I can see said interview please? I'd love to see what they have in store.

Competition is good I think.
The interview was posted on OSR last month(mid) and yeah no TDK announcements. What he did state was that the Robocop 1/4 scale was going to have an exclusive BD version for their store and T-1000 coming up with 2 headsculpts as well as a 1/4 Godfather figure in the works. Also that Rocky will be coming out but debate over final version.NBA will be split into modern and classic with Rodman coming soon and he also announced a HD Jordan as well as another Bruce Lee figure. The T-800 endo is still up in the air and my guess is that they are waiting to see how well the T-1000 does!He did make a few more statements but the interview needs to be properly translated to be fully understood.Hope this helps!
Their CS told me this few weeks ago !
Are you sure that was their exact word?Their English is pretty bad so what you might think they might be meaning something else.

Lovely pics indeed!

It's been dark all weekend here in England so this the best I could do!

Eamon,it looks like you have CB Batman in your house!

Chances are pretty high that HT is working on a 1/4 scale Batman Begins version as well as another but I wouldn't worry about a 2.0 just yet!:wink1:

Hope you're right. I'd like to see a 1/4 Bane rather than another Begins BM or Joker. I always felt the chances of multiple versions for 1/4 scale figures would be low, since they're so much bigger and therefore require more time to design/manufacture. But what do I know :)

BTW, have you sold your EB T800 yet? I sent you a PM about it a few days ago.

I really like my DX12 but in hand there is no comparison, the QS001 is a lot better in pretty much every way.
It is also a very complete package including the backpack, the sonar head and the empty cowl (if you have the Ex).

That's based solely on photos, though. I own both, and there is absolutely no comparison between the DX12 and the QS001.

I only own the DX 12, but based on pics I've seen, the only improvement the QS has over it is the headsculpts, faceplates, details on the sticky bomb gun, and the radiation device that pops out of the belt. When I see pics, if there isn't something in them for height comparison, I literally don't see a difference between it and the best 1/6 figure out there.

But, it's a $500, 1/4 scale figure. It should be better.

I still think Hot Toys would be capable of offering that head, faceplates and the Bale sculpt in 1/6 scale. The DX 12 and QS were announced at roughly the same time. If they hadn't rushed the DX 12 out so fast, I would have been curious to see what we would have gotten instead.

You must be JOKING- the QS001 is far far far nicer than the DX12... isn't even worth discussing.....

To those who are starting to feel discouraged and/or thinking twice about buying/keeping their QS001 just because of Maglor's opinions and those side-by-side comparisons of DX12 and QS001 in pictures (taken at separate occasions), know this:

Maglor, and I say this with confidence in my one year of stay on here and seeing his posts -- is a collector of high, if not highest standards. That's him, and he's well-respected in the community (add me to those who look up on him) because his high standards and perfectionism result to his coming up with modifications from simple to complicated (which he selflessly shares to all) that can bring out a figure's full potential. But with that said I have also learned to separate my opinions to his as I do with the opinions of professional toy reviewers like Michael Crawford. IN the end it's always to each his own. If I like the figure and find it outstanding as is or with slight mods, I'd keep it despite Maglor saying it looks like an oversized Mattel toy to him, or if Crawford gives it 2 stars. But then I get pleased easily.

I'm still waiting on mine, but I saw this on display and I think that in person if placed side-by-side with the DX12, the QS001 would show that it's not at all just a blown-up version of its sixth-scale counterpart.

Okay, I take it back. :lol

On some level it makes me feel that way, but I should have kept that to myself. It's not at all a fair comparison.

This figure just has me a little out of my mind.

Even when I disagree with you I usually respect your comments as they are constructive and try to be helpful.
This one doesn't really fall in that category IMO.
I could be wrong but it seems you are still on the fence about this figure and you may be over thinking things a little.
Or, maybe you really prefer 1/6 scale...

Fair assessment. And I've decided to get my arse off the fence. Boxed the guy up tonight.

DX12vsQS.jpg

The QS is superior in 5 important ways:

  • Better cowl.
  • Better face plates.
  • All in one boots.
  • Perfectly shaped shoulder pads.
  • A better "fat suit" (no thunder thighs).

However, the appearance of the boots can be improved on the DX12, the face plates can be replaced with customs, the "fat suit" can be removed or modified, and the shoulder pads can be modified. The only glaring difference at that point is the improved cowl.

On the other hand, the DX12 has a better, more heroic looking torso. Also, the shape of the DX12 true type allow for modifications to the shoulder pads that result in a smaller "bust line", thus disguising the undersized head. Also, the wrist straps don't flair out like they do on the QS (but they can be easily modified on either figure).

When all this is taken into account, I personally prefer my modified DX12. Fresh out of the box the QS is a better figure though - especially if it was shrunk down to 1/6 scale. [I think 1/4 rolling eyes look even more toyish to me than 1/6, which I wasn't expecting.]

The boots and shoulder pads of the qs are 10x better then the dx also.

Yep.

:lol Touche.
