I’m fine with crotch/waist grabbers. I understand ppl want something less obtrusive, but given how much these cost (with prices rising), I’d rather have them secured from falling over and the risk of extra damage in lieu of no crotch/waist grabber.

And I don't even have to worry about earthquakes and tornados. Priority one is still that my really expensive figure doesn't crash off the shelf from a height and take other stuff with it. Crotch grabber stands are perfectly alright with me.

exactly! given that someone is currently doing a custom run for just the purple coat at the incredibly affordable cost of $500+, the demand for this character seems to be never ending.

Also, we shouldn’t let social media sites and forums trick us. There’s a reason Sideshow needs to use gimmicks like “LOW STOCK” and count downs and queues and “LIMITED EDITION” to sell these dolls. Half the collector base is gone. Hot Toys and Co. probably figured out the sweet spot is something like 4,000 to 8,000 potential customers for each item . . . which really isn’t a whole helluva lot.

People underestimate the interest in these things outside the collecting community. Most normal people are gonna balk at a $550 doll. A $500 1/6 coat? Forget it. Only a dozen or so hardcore nut jobs are jumping on that.

I BET once InArt does theirs (and it’s well received), Hot Toys will then decide to pursue it.

They’re not the pioneers anymore. They don’t take risks.

I can't see HT making one unless they're ready to commit to that $1000 threshold the licensor has for Phoenix Joker merch. If ppl don't like the price of this Artisan figure, they're definitely not going to like the price of the Phoenix Joker. And if HT make it a two pack for $1000, then I can't wait to hear what all those ppl who said InArt were crazy for making a "$1000 figure" will be saying to HT about that. The excuses for HT will be flying faster than the the POs for Anakin this morning

They might be out of the running as it is seeing how apparently the wording says they aren't allowing any toys to be made from the movie. Given "toys" is part of the Hot Toys name, the licensor may not even be giving them a second look.

limited to 30 so a little over 2 dozen, however the amount of ppl buying said coat is not the point. The point I'm making is that someone is always making a new run of TDK Joker clothes at least once a year meaning that the demand for this character is not slowing down and ppl are willing to pay high prices for it. You can say regular ppl won't be paying that much but look at where we are now. Many were saying HT were too expensive back in the day and yet now they're buying $500+ InArt and HT figures. Some get priced out for sure, but others will just roll with the higher pricing as we've continued to see happening, while new collectors are coming into the hobby at the current prices and they seem just fine with it.

The question was "why does HT keep milking this character?" and that's the answer. Ppl will continue to buy this character no matter what. There was even a full suit set custom run that's just wrapping up now and that's with InArt having already had theirs revealed and releasing.

EDIT: not to mention the continual countless Joker sculpts regularly being made to capture ever single minute facial expression Ledger made at ever split second frame of the movie. You even have that honey bunches of oats guy making idk how many versions of his Batman cowls, yet somehow each one was supposedly the most accurate version possible Ppl keep buying TDK merch, therefore companies and custom artists keep making it. Simple as that.

EDIT 2: Additionally there were also the DafToys purple suit set and the 2 Topo Toys made purple suit sets. Then you have the countless KO's of varying quality of the DX11 set. Demand is always there for this character.

Hey, you like what you like. I see people purchasing that SW dewback for $700 and while it looks good, I think that’s a waste of money. You’re always going to question money spent on things you don’t have interest in.

Congrats on getting on that run. I found out about it too late. From the pics, it's probably my favorite set of custom Ledger clothing I've seen personally.

Conversely, I suspect those with the means and the desire to make such a purchase probably don't share your opinion and might even consider such a remark to be made by a "peasant" or a "pov". Just saying.

Not everyone has the same tastes and means, so there's no point in alienating others.

And I think the run started end of last year around November at least that's when they first made an IG post about it, so not years to my knowledge though @Nick D would know better since he's on the run.

I think the new Jokers suit is just fine, paying more for a custom one is okay but not my cup of tea and still miles from the madness of the hot toys emperor Palpatine 1:6 throne costing 1:1 money.

Nah it’s actually pretty damned perfect. Only taken 15yrs for someone to do it right!

EDIT; if I HAD to be picky? The cuffs should taper out more. One thing only the Jaggz run has right (in proto at least).

Yea the vest is definitely my favorite part of the set, followed by the shirt. Like you said, there's probably a bunch of inaccuracies that I'm not picking up on, but I like the color and material choices from what I can see. There's even the subtle stitching on the coat lapels. From recent posts, price was $430 but that probably didn't included shipping and paypal fees
