Whereas the recent comic based Wonder Woman Premium Format, was also a disappointment when compared to the prototype?s paint on the face. The prototype was near perfection. She was beautiful..... but the production piece didn?t compare imo. However that said, if I had never seen the prototype I would?ve said that the production piece was great.... which it was, sort of. But knowing what it could?ve been, prevented me from including it in my collection.

Yes if I had not seen the prototype, I would?ve liked the production piece as well. But I probably wouldn?t have bought it. I was going to buy based on how the prototype looked. It would?ve been my first premium format.

On a side note, does anyone know why apostrophes come out as question marks?

I think what's giving the SS one such a presence is the translucent resin for the skin. The thing is that both of these seem to be accurate representations of the character depending on when you look at him on the show. Remember sometimes he's a puppet, sometimes he's a dummy stunt piece, and sometimes he's CG. In a way he looks like both of these depending on when you want to take a screen grab.

Hot Toys needs a cuter pout with more hair. Also another sculpt with meditative or straining expression while using the Force.
Overall, consensus is Sideshow proto captures the overall adorable cuteness with its upward gaze and cute closed mouth pout. No amount of accessories or alternative ears can beat that.
Another plus is that Sideshow tailoring has a thicker more accurate swaddling cloth. Hot Toys looks like cheap thin cotton bag from neck down.
IF final execution is there then SS is the WINNER.

The SS one has weird facial proportions like it’s Yoda cosplaying as the Child, there’s a bit too much wrinkles and sagging around the chin and mouth. The SS one definitely has the better skin and cloth materials on the prototype at least. I still prefer the HT one because you can’t change the skull shape and chin but you can always repaint and add hair or change the cloth.

Agree with all of this.

I like the Mandalorian series but have no interest in buying anything from the show, maybe the 1/6 baby Yoda that comes with Mando, if I can get it separately for a good price. Anyway from the two life-size prototypes I prefer the Sideshow one, as in my eyes looks closer to the screen used puppet (though there are minor inaccuracies), but in the end all depends on the production and how well both the Hot Toys and Sideshow finished products will look like.

I'm going with HT more because of quality than accuracy. I know what i'm getting with HT but with Sideshow it can be the best in the world or a how could they mess it up so badly.

I hope they both come out amazing but i'm playing it safe

IMO HT does superb eye work, and think maybe the plastic/vinyl may have some hint of translucence 'coz it's plastic (hope). Am pretty impressed with some of my HT paint on figs like SW - gorgeous. Even the last Bucky has great paint, in 1/6.

If I jump on board it'll be the HT - just don't care for a full-size statue of this character. (Am really hoping Iron Studios has license and will crank out a 1/4 Mando and child together.) The HT will also be easier to deal with on my shelves.

Besides am sure HT is already hearing comments, so who knows what production will look like. The seams don't bother me that much. I just wish they had a set of perkier inquisitive ears. Anyway tho hope both SSC and HT deliver in production.

IMO, the only advantage the HT one has at this moment is Sideshow's reputation of delivering far inferior final products compared to their prototypes. Think I'll wait to see the released product before buying. If I miss it, I miss it.

Never thought Id hear myself saying the SS is better but it is in this case. Well see when the final product is released.

Expression looks like he has a bad taste in his mouth. Also, don't like the ear attachment line -- all that for ears that are only slightly more downward?

I have to agree, Sideshow wins this round.

Not sure if I?ll get either version as I don?t buy many life sized pieces. However, I could see HT offering swappable heads with different expressions down the road, which could conceivably make it an attractive option. Actually the second photo in the product solicitation images looks to have a smiling expression, which is probably just due to the angle.

He looks miles better in the non photoshopped pics I?ve noticed. Those 2 above make his color and everything much more accurate.

Hmmm, not really liking this one too much, unfortunately. I'll get the Sideshow one if it's anything like the prototype, but as of now, I'm likely going to be passing on both editions. I would absolutely love a 1/1 Child but this one looks too toyish, and SS's reputation has me doubting their final product. Hoping I can be proved wrong and that both versions will be great once in production :)

No interest in something like this but very cool to see more and more Mando stuff - can't believe there's not one but two lifesize figures? How was that approved?
