Hot Toys's -MMS134 Inglourious Basterds: Col. Hans Landa

To me the likeness is captured best by HT but DiD has it all over the character. I would've bought HT Hans had it not been for the blank expression. Maybe this is the one that rose to the top through the approval process, but it's a shame that a character so full of expression and mischief was reduced to the neutral look that was released.

I have this fig and I think HT did a great job....that being said that DiD sculpt is amazing....also my hands have staining, not thrilled about it, but I could always pick up hands on eBay...but it shouldnt happen.

I have my hat on slightly crooked (like in the film) and I have avoided marks on his head.

My hands are posed in a way so that they're not rubbing against the coat.

Old pic, reposed his hands/arms... hat tilt is still the same though.

Hmm, maybe some plastic wrap inside his coat would work? No clue as I don't have one yet. Can't seem to find a store that still has him in stock.

gotta disagree, DID is way better looking.!

sad but true.. ths is my hot toys/did Landa...

the smile sculpt is a litttle worse but fine...

my coat don't touch any hands so I am fine with stains...

Since when have the gloves been staining him? They're white.

The stains I seems to have avoided... so I've been cool with it.

I checked my Landa recently and no stains on anything so far.

That DID sculpt doesn't even come up to par with the Hot Toys sculpt.

I do think the DID is nice, but I'd take the HT anyday...better likeness of Waltz IMO

This comes down to HT fanship. The HT sculpts texture is better than the DID, but the expression captures nothing of Landa. Its bland, and he looks bored. DID FTW!!!

I agree that DID maked a very nice sculpt with all desired smirking but it looks crooked and paint isn't the reason.

Picked up Landa recently and he's a great figure. I also managed to pick up two additional coats - one went onto my Eric Draven figure as an upgrade, and the second went onto a body swapped Nazi Kroenen (along with a few other Landa parts) so my Kroenen is for all intents and purposes Hot Toys

Are you saying the face looks crooked? If so, that's the point! .

Landa/Waltz always had some kind of crooked look to him. One side of his mouth is always leaning more then the other. That's part of what makes the DID sculpt so good, it really captures him and not this ideal perfect version of him. I am still torn as to which I like best though as the HT likeness is quick good, but again it captures nothing of the character and is imho a "perfect" version of an imperfect human.

This is something I believe a lot of CG humans get wrong too, it's the little things that are off about people that make them feel real, and so many 3D characters are just perfect mirrors from one side to another.

Anyway, HT is a better sculpt but DID captures the character more imho.

Agreed, looks very dollish...HT is quite realistic and I instantly see Waltz giving an evil look

To each his own though, if I didn't have the HT version and couldn't find one then I'd definitely settle with DID and be quite happy.

But landa never really gave an evil look in the movie! To each his own i guess. Im mass happy with my custom landa and glad i didnt have to shell out another $150+
