I wish we were back in the golden age; when men were men and families lost children to tuberculosis. When hands bled and blistered from the constant workload on the farm; when each man had a gun on his belt, a drink in one hand, and a hand of poker in the other; those were the days.

Tell us more...I was born way after that.

I think I may cry. I feel like you are my son and you just showed me that you actually got all of my advice. 10 man-card redemption points...you have made your first step in the right direction.

:)

Truth to tell, a few of them are bull****. Like #7 - The man makes the suit badass...not the other way around. And #34 - There are without a doubt...people on the Earth who are completely undeserving of respect...but I will agree that job and status should not be the determining factors.

Some interesting stuff. Mostly excellent.
#7 I don't agree with. As George Micheal once said, "sometimes the clothes do not make the man.." He was right.

#15 I don't agree with, either. If no one notices, who cares? Besides, regular ties give people a leash to grab you by. Not good.
#18 isn't important, unless the message is not wasting food.

#26 and #27 kind of contradict each other.
#34 is wrong. Respect is earned. Only people incapable of earning respect because they lack the character or the talent demand that everyone deserves respect. Otherwise they would get none.

#44 could be a problem for some people. Some things aren't nice things to do.

I strongly advocate
#s
1,3,10,11,16,20,21,22,23,24,27,28,29,31,32,33,35,36,37,38,39,40,42,
43.
Everything else is decent advice.

I think you misunderstood #34, while it is true respect is earned, that is not what 34 is about.

You are correct, in that clothing doesn't make the man, but I do feel that it helps. I agree with the point that #7 is trying to make. When you look your best, you feel your best.

#15, I feel, is just one of those old fashioned rules. I feel that you command more respect if you know how to tie a tie. There's something so fake about clip-ons.

#18 I don't think is meant to be taken at face value; never take what you have for granted, when there are others that would gladly use everything.

I don't see how #26 and #27 contradict each other at all. Just because you might think someone's "out of your league," that doesn't mean that they are unwilling.

#34; see below.

I agree with your other points, though.

Does the lack of respect for the clip on happen when getting undressed for the making out or sex, because I don't see how else anyone would know... :lol Is that a deal breaker for any women? Does anyone REALLY look that closely at a tie other than women and gay men?
#26 and #27 don't necessarily contradict each other, however most of the the time, they certainly do. That is the reason I said they kind of contradict each other. :lol

Surely a clip on tie is not as bad as serving red wine with poultry.

It's a fact that a well-tailored suit is badass. You just have to be capable of wearing the suit.

And clip-ons are for children.

:lecture :exactly: :goodpost:

Also, on the subject of style, may I just say that it's high time that people with style took fedoras and trench coats back from hipster *********s with v-necks and acoustic guitars and angsty high school psychos who can't talk out their problems.

This:

Look so much better than this:

...and those stupid trench coat mafia kids.

:lecture If I had a bucket list, getting myself a bespoke tailored suit would be on it. I have four suits. Wearing the well-fitting, well-cut one that I do have is a completely different experience from wearing any of the other three that are average.

You know, I did in fact wear a clip on bow tie as a child, but as an adult, I don't like ties at all and refuse to wear them, because I find them frivolous and ridiculous. Ties are totally unnecessary with no function, other than making you more vulnerable in a fight. Ties for men are kind of like women who curl their hair, done because they believe the extra effort makes them look better.
