This isn't my favourite picture to begin with. Not really liking the open mandible look even on the more accurate picture. Probably just the lighting though. In the film it was all night-time scenes when he had the mask off. When its completely lit up like in these pics it looks less like it 'came out of the film'.

However I'm thinking I'll display one with mask on and another with mask off/closed mandibles.

I took the liberty of cropping the pictures above and putting them next to each other so thus everyone could see the difference between the original predator and the modified one (the modified one - left - looks way better):

modified ....................................................................................... original HT

That pretty much illustrates my point on camera angle. Yes, it's not perfect, but from the right angle, the ammount it should be modified is very miniscule.

I hope the paint apps hold up. There's some really detailed apps on the headsculpt.

Prepare to be disappointed.

These will be mass produced in a factory. There's no way we'll get the detailed paint app we've seen on the prototype.

Personally speaking, I wouldn't mind a drop off because like you said, proto vs. mass produced always = less detail. My gripe is not so much quality, as it is COMPLETE difference. And imo HT does that A LOT especially with their Predator figures. The P2 proto had a nice paint scheme, the final figure changed completely. And again, I'm not talking about quality wise. They changed the entire color scheme from white/red+stripes to straight muddy reddish/brown. Same thing with Wolf, an accurate proto green turned into Banana yellow. Borg turned from yellow/green to straight HULK SMASH green. And I have no clue why HT does that. If the P2 would've came with the same Borg paint up + accurate colors it would've been perfect. That shows me it has nothing to do with labor, because HT was able to do Borg up like that (stripes etc.) so they could've done the same with the P2. Bottomline, they chose not to. Why that is, I have no clue.

How much more do we think the P1 figs will be on eBay once they are released? Or do prices generally stay the same till after they start selling out?

The thing is, you can't fault Hot Toys. They don't paint them, the factory that's hired to make them does all the painting.

ehhh.. that's iffy. The product is from HT. It falls on them. That's like saying "don't blame the contractor, blame the sub-contractor's for the shotty work". No. When you're in charge it falls on you. If the problem is with the factory that paints the figures, and HT continues to use their services that's on HT.

Well, using that logic, let's say HT does change factories to get a more detailed paint job. Expect the price of your figures to go up ALOT!

You get what you pay for.

But that's the thing, HT doesn't care. So that scenario would never happen. And tbh why should they!? Their products sell regardless of innacuracies. So from their pov there's no problem.

Then you still can't fault HT.

If the consumer continues to buy a product, even if it's considered sub-standard, then the fault lies with the consumer...not the producer.

If you want a higher quality paint job...don't buy from HT unless they improve their quality.

So don't blame drug dealers, blame the customers!? That's ass backwards thinking.

Where do you get your logic from? Your ass?

You can't compare drug dealing to figure collecting.
Drugs cause an addiction. It's chemical. Not even a close comparison.

The fact is, if consumers DEMANDED a higher quality from HT, and didn't buy their products unless those demands were met, you'd probably see a change.

But, again, you'd pay a higher price.
