GL2 will take care of any finanical loss of GL1, but will need GL3 to offset its financial loss.

Y'see, this is really ____ing constructive. Thanks so much.

Trust me. It's a damn site better than what I typed and deleted. :lol

So what say you? Think Green Lantern will move into the black after the DVD release? While on the topic of movies, I'm gonna be damn curious to see if TDKR pulls in even half of what TDK did with all the Ledger death hype. I think Begins will be a good example of what TDKR will do.

For GL, Amazon viewers of it give it hope with a decent rating. RT's gives it a 26% low score. IMDB has a little above average. I've only heard bad word of mouth on it and chose Thor over it as I didn't have the time for both. I agree, Ledger's death brought in a lot more viewers, like people that gawk at an accident scene. TDKR also may suffer from multiple-characteritis with Catwoman--origin/story arc and Bane--origin/story arc, etc. etc. I hope Nolan ends on a high note before it's rebooted with nippled suits again.

I think tdkr will come close to the tdk box office tally due to the fact that batman is LOVED by kids and adults alike. I feel that green lantern is more of a real comic book fans type movie, hence the bad box office takings. Also the fact that the movie really blow's can't help ticket sales either LOL.

TDKR will do well being the final installment of the trilogy that's amassed quite a few viewers —a big portion of which will want to see how stuff ends. Won't do as well as TDK, but should do better than BB.

As I said in the GL thread, I think the movie was misunderstood and unappreciated just like Watchmen. While not a diehard GL fan, I went in understanding there's a bit of a "fantasy" element to GL. Unfortunately, I think most people went in expecting a Superman or Batman movie. The sequel with the Sinestro Corps will be more of that, but there's still a huge level of fantasy involved with GL that makes him unique among his tight-wearing brethren.

I agree and was frustrated with what happened to Watchmen, as that was one of my favorite comics and I still think one of the most faithful comic movie adaptations around.

:lecture:lecture:lecture:exactly: Meatheads (like some posters here), likely went in expecting a superhero beat-em-up, not a crime drama with superheroes.

Pretty spot on I'd say. :exactly:

I don't think anyone went into Watchmen expecting blue codpiece in their faces for a majority of a 3 hour film :rotfl

Given the film was 3 hours, if that was your main focus, and the above post makes it seem like it was, I'd say you have deeper issues than not enjoying mislabeled superhero movies. :monkey1

There were sighs and people checking their watches when i went. I was really looking forward and knew this wasn't a typical superhero movie. It was a pseudo-realistic look at what if superheroes were real and really only had 1 truly SUPER hero. The others were men/women that wanted to fight crime. It was a masterpiece and bombed because average joe moviegoer had no appreciation of what Snyder was doing and they wanted just a summer popcorn hero movie.
