Looks good overall in that review, but I’m not happy about the downgraded paint apps on the face.
Was thinking that as well. If InArt truly wants to overtake Hot Toys as the pinnacle of the hobby, they need to knock it off with stuff like this. There's always going to be some kind of drop from prototype to production and expecting an exact match is unreasonable, but all of the detail that Ron's face lost really sours my excitement on receiving this.

As with all InArt releases, the tailoring and accessories here look phenomenal. This would be in the conversation for figure of the year if the paint application was stronger. Maybe it will be anyway. But between the Aragorn hair being a disaster for a handful of folks, blu tac/oversized heads on some Jokers, Harry/Gandalf wrist peg hell, The Batman forever delays - it's a shame that InArt can't get a release out without something to criticize.

Anyway, I'm still really excited for Ron, he's still going to look incredible next to Harry (and near my Newt Scamander) on the shelf. Should be here early next week, can't wait to get Ron in and out of this never ending cold.

Perhaps, as has been the case with Superman, InArt will enhance the paint job on late batches.

Very bad practice.
Ugh.

I already didn't order Legolas because I just don't trust them to drop $500 on a figure. If they start punishing their early buyers by improving flaws on later batches, I really might need to re-think how much I want to do business with these guys.

Hopefully that's not the case.

The new narrative (not disputing the truth of it btw). Honestly, I think it’s time for me to depart these forums lol, there’s always something. I’ll keep collecting and enjoying the hobby.

Who’s saying they want to overtake Hot Toys? By what metric? In many peoples’ heads, they’ve already surpassed them from a figure design standpoint.

Don't forget that Aragorn also had better paint on later batches as well along with the better hair

Yea, if later batches are going to be improved, then those with earlier batches need to be able to get a replacement for the improved version. It's annoying to say the least, especially considering the price point.

Agreed. I definitely expect a drop in production but not a massive one. It should be fairly close much like how Harry's was. The irony in my opinion was that when the prototype of JND was shown, everyone mentioned how dull and lacking in detail they are as far as the paintwork is concerned, yet here we are with the production piece for InArt and it's lost almost all its detailed paintwork that the proto had.

At least with JND's, I'm fairly certain that the detail will be there in hand (for the silicone portraits) as it just doesn't get picked up well in photos. Their paintwork on the PVC headsculpts will most likely be just like the protos

Agreed. I've come to terms with the fact that I will have to completely restyle the hair on their figures after having to do it with each one of my rooted InArt figures so far. But the other issues shouldn't be happening and it would be nice to just enjoy the figures right out of the box. I don't like to have to spend time with the figures to then warm up and be ok with them.

Speaking of Newt, I wonder if InArt still plan on making him. I remember them mentioning interest in him.
