Then I suggest you stay away from the TalkBack at AintItCool - for your piece of mind - those are some crazy kids over there!

Night guys, it's been fun!

Dude if you actually work for Sideshow I wouldn't be bashing a movie your employer holds a merch license to.

But I'm really shocked at the Indy hate going on. It had plot holes and some CGI craziness, but overall it was a fun flick. I guess I'm just shocked to see so many people hating it.

I didn't hate it personally. I thought it was just ok. I actually thought The Mummy was better than this film. I think that many other films were better. It was just ok for me. Nothing special and I am bummed.

Still holding strong at 79% Pos on the Tomatometer - but starting to drop, as most do. I'm actually a bit surprised by this...

See, I thought LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD was about the worst movie I've seen in years.

Apparently you missed films like Van Helsing, Alien vs. Predator and Elektra. Those are good candidates for worst movie of the decade, not Live Free or Die Hard.

The Aliens didn't bother me in the least, it was part of that time period and made sense for Indy to deal with. If they had done a film set in the 50's and DIDN'T touch that, I'd have been disappointed. At least he came upon them via tombs and classic archeology and not some other method. So it made sense to me. Indy wasn't hunting aliens, but he still found them.

I imagine I'd have felt differently about that concept if I'd known more about that time period. I've never been too big on history to look into it on my own, and school always covered things hundreds of years ago instead of a few decades, which would be more relevant to our times.

Well, I don't even consider those they're so bad. :lol But we are in agreement.

:lecture Exactly. The alien element (the whole McGuffin, actually) is my favorite aspect of the movie. It's probably the one positive contribution Lucas made to the flick.

Same here, it was a major factor for me liking this film. You couldn't tackle the Crystal Skull legend without touching on aliens. It's impossible. That would be like doing a story about the Ark, but instead changing it to where the Ark is actually used for bread storage or something. :lol

I thought this was the movies undoing. Especially the ship now flying off into the sunset. Aliens have no business in an Indy movie. However, that is just my opinion. Ultimately it ruined the movie for me in a sense. Another part of me can ignore the Alien part and enjoy the movie. Like for real why did the aliens kill the Nazi's? Other than the fact they wanted power how did the Aliens know that? It was a wacky silly movie period.

Nazis?? And what do you mean how did the aliens know? Did we watch the same movie? :lol

I can understand that. I am an American History buff, so the 20's through the 70's especially intrigue me. America went through some monumental changes during those years, some for good, some for bad.

But the 50's was a very paranoid time, the Red Scare, Aliens, Atomic War... it was all over the place. This film captured the time period perfectly IMO.

Josh sure you could have. You didn't need a space ship flying off to maybe just touch on the fact that tools of the times couldn't have made the skulls. I myself follow this sort of thing. I think they pushed it too far. Way too far. But to each his own. I still kinda liked it. But feel more like a disappointed parent must feel like. Like you did ok but just not as good as I know you could sorta way.

Absolutely. It nailed every aspect of that time period perfectly.

I also think they were successful in replicating the beats of a 1950's sci-fi B-movie.

I think you just absolutely nailed the review in a way. It was a B movie.
