I was hoping Iron Man 2 would be the Empire Strikes Back or The Dark Knight of the Iron Man series. I hope it doesn't turn out to be the Attack of the Clones. If it were, then at least there's a light at the end of the tunnel and Iron Man 3 could be Revenge of the Sith.

...Here I am making a post entirely out of Star Wars analogies.

edit: just checked out that Whiplash 2 pic. Meh.

revenge of the sith was good. except for hayden christiansens's lack of acting skills. as hard as ewan mcgregor tried to act off him, it was impossible, because of his bland, dull acting. "i will defeat you." christ, steven hawking could have made a better anakan.

what were we talking about again? oh yeah, the new whiplash suit kicks ass. :monkey3

Empire and Total film have given it Three stars, good but not great.
I don't care what that Labour Comic the Sunday Mirror says anyway.
I will have my own verdict on Thursday and my expectations have been lowered, so I might not be disappointed now.

It would be so awesome to be at one of the screenings with Jon and Robert :rock

So far it's 85% Fresh at Rotten Tomatoes, but the growing consensus is that it's not as good as the first one (It was Tough act to follow anyway)

It doesn't particularly have to be as good as the first film to stand own its own as a good film. However, it won't be remembered as one of those sequels that is as good or better than their predecessor, like Godfather II, Dark Knight, or Empire Strikes Back.

It might turn out to be along the lines of Superman II or Ghostbusters II.

I don't really know much about Thor, but isn't he a mythological superhero? Somehow, it seems goofy to me to mix a mythological hero with ones like Iron Man and Hulk which are bound, albeit fantastically, to a science world.

Thor's father Odin decides his son needs to be taught humility and consequently places Thor (without memories of godhood) into the body and memories of an existing, partially disabled human medical student, Donald Blake. After becoming a doctor and on holiday in Norway, Blake witnesses the arrival of an alien scouting party. Blake flees into a cave, and after discovering Thor's disguised hammer Mjolnir, and striking it against a rock, transforms into the Thunder God. So in reality while he is mythological there is a humane element to it because Thor shares a double life with his alter ego and a scientific element because Blake himself is a doctor.

What seems to be occurring is that according to Kevin Feige, Iron Man 1 and 2 take place before the Incredible Hulk and Thor so we are seeing at the end of IM2 what will bring Thor into the present and it would solidify the idea that Thor will show the hero himself and then have him lose his abilities by the end only to gain them in The Avengers or even at the end of Thor. Which theoretically would take place (the ending section) right after this after the credit scene. It does though completely throw out the rumors previous so who knows.

Just came back from Iron Man 2 and I gotta say I ____ing love this movie!!

I definitely think it's better than the first one! Much faster pacing, ____ing hilarious! Robert Downey Jr. and Sam Rockwell are spot on!

Lots of little nods for true geeks like myself, pretty much the entire theater stayed till the end to see the reveal of another Avenger bit... :D
