No idea if this is true or not, but this was part of a conversation that I just had with a fellow collector on my FB page:

" Buddy of mine preorded not knowing what power pose is.When i told him statue he was mad. He called to cancel, SS has a statment they read that Hot Toys will not be making the traditional 1/6figs for IronMan3."

You're obviously the cynical sort. When a buddy of some guy I'm chatting with online says he got a statement from some guy at HT I myself have no reason to doubt it.

That and common sense - I mean why would HT keep making MMS versions of the armors? They're done with Iron Man and this is their way of winding down the license.

As an avid model builder this appeals to me as a prefinished figure model. I didn't know it had working lights...a plus. I might pay $150 and keep it "seperate" from the MMS figure display.

Truth is I'm sucked into this as I get more and more excited by IM3- movie better be good...I'm predicting it will eclipse IM2 which i had problems with.

Yes HT has made me another sucker for IM.

The working theory is that the events of the Avengers has sent Tony into a frenzy developing better IM armor.

Seeing as the armor in the trailers is moving around on it's own, I'm guessing that he has armor(s) that are working for him 24/7 building new armors. But that's just a guess.

You nailed it- he saw the powers of Thor and Hulk and is going to try to equal them...Stark has too big an ego!

:horror

They are probably just saying that so people will buy it... Then when it's released around the movie premiere they'll announce the MMS version after everyone has bought and received the statue.

Damn. That sucks. By the way, does the buddy of this guy you saw on Facebook still have that bridge he was gonna sell me awhile back?

I just posed this question to SSC via chat and they said:

"Hello.
Because we do not carry every Hot Toys item, we are not advised of upcoming products until they are announced through the newsletter."

Then they asked me if I'd like to sign up fo their newsletter...

This suit looks like something Liberace would wear to be honest.

And in all likelihood these are HTs introductory prices for a new "format" to see if it gets off the ground. If it does well expect a price jump within 6-12 months by about 50-60%

Purely speculation on my part mind you...

No body in there right mind should believe that. There's no way I can believe hot toys won't produce mms figures for this movie. Theyve already started with Tony Stark. We have this mark, at least on other variant, a re-designed war machine, and the iron patriot paint up on that design.

HT is greedy for collectors money. These "power posers" and the busts will not sell nearly as well as the mms versions will, but since complaining about price point of all their new items they offer these at the price point we were comfortable paying. Too bad statues suck.

Iron Man's nothing but a two-bit Batman rip-off, anyway.

On the subject of milking a franchise.....Disney just announced that there will be more, stand alone Star Wars movies, in addition to the previously announced trilogy.

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming....

I can't believe they would lie to you this way after telling that other guy about their plans.

statue collectors like me dont care because it's not 1/4, figure collectors get pissed because it's a statue. HT dropped ball on this, if they are going statue they should made it 1/4.

I would loved to pay $$$ for a 1/4 hot toys ironman statue, instead of putting up with sideshow's bad quality crap.

I don't get all the hate, sure it's not for everyone but I don't think it'll have any problems selling. In a lot of the show your shelves threads I see people leaving posable figures in the same pose indefinitely. If you're a fan of the pose and don't plan on changing things often this is ideal. I get that it is less of figure and more a statue but if you only collect HT's, and want a dynamic pose it kinda makes sense for about $100 less than an MMS. I have no interest in it, but can understand the aforementioned type of collector jumping all over this.
