i am just hoping we get an mms but i cant see why we wouldnt i mean they have already got the boots and arms with the tony stark figure

Yeah I want an MMS after seeing this one, this looks great. I still don't get the need for it but I really like the design.

I want a figure to go with my collection, not a statue.

Statue collectors can finally have a statue with a HT quality paintjob. Thats how I see this. I mean the crappy paint they generally have to put up with...

Most of statue collectors here prefer 1/4 scale, this would have been a well received product in a statue collectors' world if it's 1/4 scale.

Many of us will pass because of the scale, we are waiting for Sideshow 1/4 scale premium format/maquette from iron man 3. Wish HT make 1/4 scale statues, competition is always good.

1/4 PF or maquette with this pose please. Not a mini 1/6 statue bah!

statue collectors like me dont care because it's not 1/4, figure collectors get pissed because it's a statue. HT dropped ball on this, if they are going statue they should made it 1/4.

I would loved to pay $$$ for a 1/4 hot toys ironman statue, instead of putting up with sideshow's bad quality crap.

:exactly: why can't HT make 1/4 scale statues, is it because of license?

Also I wonder what kind of material that they used for this HT statue, is it plastic like their figure? Or resin/polystone like Sideshow use? Anyone knows?

I've seen two sites today run a story on this, both seemingly oblivious to the fact that it's a statue - not a figure. I think this thing is diluting Hot Toys brand - what they're known for - and confusing customers.

Unless they want to rebrand themselves as Hot Statues.

I can see that but some people can't read, they just see a pic and start assuming what it is.

Reading wouldn't help. It doesn't say statue anywhere on the pictures. It just says iron man power pose collectible. Since htis is their first statue they should state that in big letters to avoid confusion.

And those HD pics above say figure

A statue is a figure. If people are ordering this without actually looking at the pictures and reading the description.. they should blame themselves, not HT.

Yea maybe not there but just going to the SS website and reading the summary tells you. It's pretty obvious that it isn't articulated like a MMS figure. It is technically a hybrid figure, lol. A pre painted model kit figure with interchangeable parts.
PS, it looks better to me than the articulated versions too.
Koto has done them for years.

Like Dracula said a statue is technically a figure too.

yup this is limited pose with only leg swap. to change pose. saw the display look nice. but as its basically a statue why so little dramatic effect. very plan base. no battle damage . bit boring to look at after 5 min.

Even reading the description is pretty vague and misleading. I wonder how many people will order this thinking it's a fully articulated action figure and only find out the truth once it's in their hands in 6 months. Then there will be a flood of returns and angry customers.

This little experiment of HT's could all come back to bite them in the butt.

Actually, once the real MMS figure is announced, that might open people's eyes to the differences between the two releases.

Man I would hope people would read and see the difference otherwise you may want to reconsider how you go about collecting.
I can see if you are new to this world of items but if you have been around then you should see the diff.

Seeing the accessories from the Tony Stark figure here in the background doesn't give me much hope that Hot Toys plans on releasing a standard articulated MMS MK42 in the future.

This is HT we're talking about. They didn't release this to replace their MMS line. It's for those who want a cheaper version.

The MMS version will go for $250+ or so. No reason for them not to make it when they know there are people like us who will buy it.

exactly..people want to blame HT for everything including their own errors:slap

The MMS Iron Man armors are an engineering nightmare. They're not at all easy to create and manufacture. So it wouldn't surprise me that they want to take it a bit easier this time around, especially if there's many armors coming from IM3 and new ones from the other films.

It's possible the die cast series might actually be articulated and intended to replace the MMS IM figures, but we'll have to wait and see.
