Well he's kinda turned Tony into RDJ. there are others who can play tony stark but not others who can play RDJ

Kinda got tired of RDJ after seeing IM3.. Idk, there's just something wrong about it already.
He's so different from IM1. He's just too cocky now. It was fun in the Avengers, but how many
times can you say a good joke without it being tired?

Still getting MMS191 though as a commemoration of RDJ's great work in the franchise.

So long. I hope this is the last IM movie with RDJ as Tony.

I'll just end here and leave the spoilers for next week. :lol

Iron Man in all its forms owes RDJ big time for taking a character no one gave two craps for and turning him into Marvel's most popular character (second to maybe Spider-Man).

I also however agree with this. I was talking to my friend the other week about this. Before the first film, I reckon most of the people who are "mad" about the franchise could've only told you that Iron Man was red and yellow, and a superhero. Now all these people I went to school with are obsessed, know his name is Tony Stark, names of villains, giving the films and the character all sorts of praise. Seems odd to take something relatively cornered to just "comic fans" and propel it to worldwide fame amongst everyone.

W/o RDJ the Marvel Universe is going to slowly fade back into obscurity.

A team of space racoons, Ant-man, Black Panther? no thanks. Alot of us buy tix to watch this man play billionaire superhero and w/o him I'm quite certain the box office will reflect that. If Disney's smart they will ****-can whatever 3D spongebob ride they have in the works and throw that money at him.

He's the Second most popular Marvel character AFTER Spider-man in the movies.

in the Comics, TV & Video Games he's still far, far down the list.

You've said before that you only watch the movies because of RDJ. i think you're the only one or one of very few that feels that way.

Audiences like superheroes in general and the universe is rich with characters people want to see, they'll do fine without Iron Man, he was just the first to be done by Marvel studios

Nah, not me, I also like the other actors and characters, Marvel is obviously much more than RDJ/Stark/IM no matter how great his contribution or how important his glue.

That being said, he truly is a master at his craft and is the embodiment of a character brought to life in a perfect manner, he will be missed.

But life continues, great characters and stories still need to be told.

So nah. :lol

Yes, but you're a fanboy. You're on a message sight discussing what ifs of a movie franchise's future that are hypothetical.

We're far from the "general public" in terms of these movies and I still firmly believe the reason they see things like Cap and Thor, if they see them(alot of my friends only saw IM and Avengers), is because they play into Avengers and ultimately Iron Man. Its also why RDJ is making 50 million from avengers and the next closest was what like 14 for Sam? Marvel knows this as well.

Simply being an animated pixar type film doesn't cut it anymore, plenty of those are flopping everyday, even from the likes of people who's name should sell like Tim Burton. If they want to sell people on Guardians and talking space animals, it's going to be from hype of it going twoards another Avengers and if people don't have much to look forward to carrying into that, such as a subpar second rate actor like Matt Dillion doing a RDJ impression than it'll turn people off. It's not like they can reboot Iron Man mid Phase 2, whoever takes over has to play the character the same way RDJ has this whole time with the same motives and history. Theres no wiggle room to make Tony Stark your own if you're the actor taking over. Honestly I can't imagine any A-list actor wanting the role in such a wake or expectations and backlash. It'd be virtual career suicide if they blew it.

Saw the movie too today. Great movie. But...

I just don't like how the story turned out regarding the Mandarin. How he (Ben Kingsley) was just a front. I think they have ruined a great villain.

I'm planning on taking my Nephew (who i superhero mad btw) to see this on the weekend. Just checked my local Cinema and it's already out. I thought it wasn't out until the weekend :lol

_____

just watching a bit of IM1. It's remarkable the difference in the character. In that he is Tony Stark, in all subsequent films he's not Tony Stark but RDJ going through the motions as himself. Hopefully in IM3 he goes back to plying Stark.
