Which comic is that because even though i've never read a Mandarin comi even i know that...

He's a sorcerer. we all knew he wouldn't be that from when we first saw him, but him being the terrorist made sense for our time and he looked and acted great until it was revealed he was a druggie actor

"Government infiltration

The Mandarin infiltrates the U.S. government via his role as CEO of Prometheus, a corporation specializing in bio-engineered weaponry. He appears to be using Extremis creator and Tony Stark's former love interest Maya Hansen to produce an army of Extremis enhanced soldiers as well as financing and arming terrorists around the globe. The Mandarin also appears to plan unleashing the Extremis virus in aerosol form on the public, expecting the 97.5% fatality ratio to cause a mass catastrophe of deaths.[volume & issue needed] The Mandarin admits to Hansen that even he will die in the outbreak but she and those with the gene to survive will become free from disease and become effectively immortal. Though he has his Extremis disabled, Iron Man defeats the Mandarin while wearing the Silver Centurion armor by tearing five of the rings out of the Mandarin's spine, blasting him with those rings, his unibeam, and repulsors at the same time, and then freezing him as he is engulfed in deadly concentrated Extremis virus. Iron Man then prevents the Extremis-outbreak.[24]

When the Mandarin's apparently frozen body is autopsied, all that is found is a blackened husk... not unlike an Extremis chrysalis.[24]"

-Wiki entry on Mandarin

You can even see Silver Centurion being used against the Mandarin. Though it's only Killiandarin's arm being removed. LOL

Killain was Adrich Killain man who controls the Mandarin "character" played by Trevor

I don't think he ever referred to himself as "The Mandarin" but i do remember hims saying he'd have "the Mandarin in one hand and the leader of the free world in the other" and when he kidnapped the president he aid something like the Mandarin is waiting for you.

He was the villain but not the Mandarin as the Mandarin was a character used to terrify the world

The Captain America tat on Kingsley and the dragon tats on Pierce convinced me who the real mandarin is.

right at the end, Killian says something along the lines of, "I'm the mandarin, I always have been."

Saw this film yesterday. Thought they completely butchered the original extremis storyline (not read the extremis/mandarin story arc) but really enjoyed it as a film. Loads of flaws but I can look past them because it was a well told story with lots of action. Definitely better than iron man 2, for me.

Saw the film last night. What a disappointment!

It's quite possibly the worst MCU film to date. People go on about how IM2 was dragged down by the way Tony went off the rails and in this film, he has panic attacks every 10 minutes!

Bad cgi (most full body shots of the 42 looked like sloppy key frame animation instead of mocap) even worse character twists and way too much slapstick. That Mark 42 is probably the most incompetent suit to date!

It felt like a cheap imitation of an iron man film.

I don't think the CGI was as good as IM1, in that the armours looked real, with shine and gloss. In this they tended to look more dull plastic and like they didn't physically exist.

Thats just from one viewing though

Shane Black must like Batman films...

Aldrich Killian was a geeky fanboy at the beginning, changes to become an equal to the person he once worshipped and longs to proves he's better ala The Riddler in Batman Forever.

The twist of Mandaring bein Trevor and Killian being the mastermind is very similar to Batman Begins

I'll rephrase it, bad animation. As a still the shots would look good, but the motion was dreadful. The shots of the 42 in Stark's house when talking to pepper really pulled me out of the film. That was definitely not mocap!

As a side note,
If the mandarin as we thought doesn't exist, then who's in charge of the 10 rings? Was Killian the leader of the 10 rings in Iron Man 1 or was he using the notoriety of the 10 rings as a way to further his own plans?

Movie was enjoyable enough, funny at times but I doubt I will buy it on bluray.

This may have been noted before but...

Q: I thought evolution of a product was supposed to make it better? Tony made what 35 additional ironmen since the avengers movie (mark 42 in this one) and none of them seemed to last 5 secs against a "hot" human eg Gwenny Potts ;). The mark 7 armour was just fine against (1) a god and (2) an alien invasion?? Thats what you get when you go for mass production out of some sweatshop somewhere...what company could learn form this I wonder?

I didn't really notice the bad cgi, I just thought the suits didn't look very strong and powerful like in the last films avengers and Im 1. Still enjoyed it tho

So i went over to IMDB. in the forums it's either annoyance over the movie. declerations of liking the movie, those saying it's a masterpiece, the greatest comic book movie ever and oddly comparisons to TDKR and calling people who don't like it nolanites :cuckoo:

The internet is a funny place.:D

I saw it last night. I thought overall it was better than 2. The movie looked great, I liked the humour and I loved the final fight.

It sure is doing killer business overseas, its made 195.3 million so far. Can't wait for Thursday to decide for myself how good or bad it is.

I just read how much money overseas it made...almost 200 mill...Man...by next Sunday it might hit over 400 million easy with US, Russia and China...wow....looks like our first 2013 Billion dollar flick...only Star trek will cause competition a few weeks later....incredible....Marvel and Star Wars(soon) will truly rake it in for disney...not to mention Pixar,etc...Disney stock will only go up:wink1:

Wait, WTF...people are comparing this to IM2...? The trailers look killer for this one.

*******, why are movies always last to arrive here in the states? I assumed everyone would have been raving about this one...!

The trailers are very misleading, there is much more comedy and certain differences that hurt the final film.

I assumed everyone would have been raving about this one...!

I did too, good to see it's more fair and balanced in reality. At least for now :lol

Wow, it beat the freaking Avengers with the International openng. :thud:

That's pretty darn impressive. I can't wait to go see this Friday night. I'm taking my folks to see it who are both excited. My mom actually asked me the other night you are taking me to see that next week when the tv spot came on.
