I'm a big fan of musical scores, was pretty disappointed that neither of these songs from the trailer were on the soundtrack. So I just bought them both and added them.

Why would they be in the movie? It's the trailer music. Unless they used the score for the trailer, it would never be in the film.

It's a separate thing all together. Most trailer music isn't made for the film.

I watched "The Avengers" again last night. In that, Stark's introduction sequence (from underwater to the scene in Stark Tower) is better than the entirety of "Iron Man 3". Absolutely. And not just because Silvestri's score owns there especially ("Stark Goes Green").

I still think it's okay, but I contend IM3 will go down as the TDKR of Marvel movies. And not in the good way.

good post...although I liked TDKR better

So Iron Man's first appearance underwater, then flying up talking about clean energy, then Stark making out with Potts and talking to Coulson is better than everything in Iron Man 3?

What's so compelling there? The clean energy? BSing to Coulson and Potts? Looking at a computer?

This movie has me conflicted like Anakin in a day care center/maternity ward.

Yes.

And it's "compelling" because it's just good character stuff. And the swelling music when he comes out of the water and kicks on the jets is awesome. Also, it's actually Stark doing the work underwater and not some boring drone. :p

It's a fun scene. But it's not that compelling.

Iron Man 3 had Tony Stark being a human, and trying to figure something out using his brain, and not a suit. I liked that better.

C'mon, that's a little harsh though. :lol

I could see saying it's a better introduction to Stark/Iron Man than Iron Man 3's 1999 stuff (it is), but that 3-5 minutes being better than everything in all of Iron Man 3? That's crazy.

You like Iron Man underwater sequences? Surely you felt something when Stark's Malibu home is attacked and he gets pulled down with his home? He's in his suit then.

You didn't like the Jingle Bells sequence of him trying out the new "bad *** baby brother" 42 armor? You didn't like when Stark was building more things down in his lab while he had Iron Man upstairs distracting Pepper? I mean I know you don't like the idea of him controlling the suit outside of being in it, but do you really think every scene that has him doing that is THAT bad?

Fair enough I guess.
