Gotta agree with this. It is interesting that some cite Tony himself not being peril himself as reasons for not liking an action scene they really enjoyed just seconds beforehand, calling the suit a drone as if it was Jarvis saving those people not Tony, that Tony was just chilling on a boat with a tropical drink in hand while the suit did everything. The story ran with the idea of how Stark and his armor relate in various ways, physically & psychologically, starting with the telekinetic combination of the MK42 and the suits for all seasons, stripping all that away and ending with the destruction of the suits and removal of the "machine" from the man, arriving at the idea that he doesn't need the armor to be Iron Man. I can see how some don't like that direction or idea, especially if they had a hard-on for a Kingsley Mandarin fight.

Eh, to use your analogy, I had a hard on for a good movie but what I saw left me limp. That's just my opinion, maybe others found it to be a great ****.

Those suits are absolutely drones by definition. Our military drones perform the same exact way: they allow a "pilot" to operate it remotely from a laptop safely out of harm's way. This is what Iron Man does in an Iron Man movie, and I think that's pretty lame. Sorry, I just do. But different strokes, and all that...

Nah, I don't think that but I thought it was a nice change of pace. I highly doubt they'll use the remote concept in Avengers 2 when Stark returns.

Well drones in the sense of the Hammer drones that were computer controlled. Robots or AI if you prefer those labels. The fact that we are discussing where the man and tech merge or diverge is sign of a successful theme, imo, and why that scene or one like it was a necessary exploration of that theme.

The best thing about Iron Patriot was how Stark was making fun of how lame the name was.

If Rhodey ever appears again, I hope he's back as War Machine, not Iron Patriot.

I agree 100% and that was one of my major issues with the movie.

Now If the suits had more of a personality, like number 5, r2d2, t800 the drone/remote controlled **** could work but as it was in the film it takes away all the drama by not having tony in the suit.

If they do this in the future, which I hope they dont., at least make it so that Jarvis could be destroyed if the suit explodes. Its not as much drama then if tony was in it but at least we would care about it instead of a mindless piece of metal.

I cared more about his little robot arm helper then his suits because at least the arm robot had a personality.

I actually liked Tony's ribbing of "Iron Patriot", too.

Kid: "... War Machine..."

Stark: "It's Iron Patriot now."

Kid: "That's way cooler!"

Stark: "No, it's not."

:lol

I like his robots, I wish he argued with them some more. :lol

So what exactly was supposed to be going on with the glowing internal fire bad guys who might bomb at any moment? I know it was supposed to be a cure for missing limbs gone wrong, but WTF? did they even try and explain it? even with comic book physics/biochemistry?
I think I had tuned out at that point, giving up trying to make any logic of the storyline, just decided to enjoy the show.
