I'm so sick of realism. It's a superhero movie. It needs to be grand, and fun/
People want realism today. Horrible, un fun, non cheesy, non interesting realism.
People still want it.
Is that why The Avengers grossed over $600 million?
There's no such thing as people want x or y
If a movie is written and executed well with a Nolanesque realistic tone, it will do well
If a movie is written and executed well with a Whedonesque Avengers type style it will also do well
It's all about being true to what it's trying to be and not come across as forced
Void's apologist post on why TDKR didn't even ballpark Avengers.

People want Iron Man to snort coke off whores, and go into a deep depression and kill people.
Realistic stuff.
You know I'm still chaffed over the Avengers spankage.
My point is that it can be any number of things - those are jut two examples. The most important thing is that it has to come across as genuine (for me).
Wait a minute... He wants to quit now? I thought that after TA story-line, he would be more gun-ho on saving everyone... Not the other way around?
I would watch RDJ as Tony Stark sitting on a cardboard box. The guy is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Just like Harrison Ford is Indy, and Sean Connery is Bond.
Star Robert Downey Jr. was injured today on the set of Iron Man 3, which has caused the film to temporarily halt production.
"Robert Downey Jr. sustained an ankle injury on the set of Iron Man 3 in Wilmington, North Carolina while performing a stunt. There will be a short delay in the production schedule while he recuperates," said Marvel Studios in a statement.
