There's no such thing as people want x or y

If a movie is written and executed well with a Nolanesque realistic tone, it will do well

If a movie is written and executed well with a Whedonesque Avengers type style it will also do well

It's all about being true to what it's trying to be and not come across as forced

People want Iron Man to snort coke off whores, and go into a deep depression and kill people.

Realistic stuff.

Is that why The Avengers grossed over $600 million?

Void's apologist post on why TDKR didn't even ballpark Avengers. :lol

So wouldn't well written and well executed be the x's and the y's then? I guess not since you said there's no such thing. ;)

:lol

My point is that it can be any number of things - those are jut two examples. The most important thing is that it has to come across as genuine (for me).

Maybe too much realism there for a comic movie, but I do want to see Tony less perky than he was in Avengers. I think one of the best parts of his character is for all his greatness hes as flawed as you, me, or that drunkard down the block, yet he still has that awesome brain pulling him through.

Being the operative phrase in this post and a phrase which should've been in the other post. :lol

Wait a minute... He wants to quit now? I thought that after TA story-line, he would be more gun-ho on saving everyone... Not the other way around? A dark, depressing IM? Not so sure about this...

I expect this to be equal parts grim and humorous. Just because there's more of the former, doesn't mean there won't be plenty of the standard Stark witticisms. This is a good thing, because I thought IM2 was too lightweight.

I expect, with Shane Black involved, the humor will be more sardonic, a bit sharper, more cutting. that's what I'm hoping for, anyway.

Tony is one of the few superheros without powers. He nearly died (trapped in space) in the Avengers. He is now with Pepper, he's helping the World in other ways with all his money and mind and he probably just want to stick around a little longer. I can see why he would want to quit... it makes sense to me. They guy is just human. If I was to come to the point of near death dozens of time I would probably rethink what I'm doing with my life as well.

I would watch RDJ as Tony Stark sitting on a cardboard box. The guy is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Just like Harrison Ford is Indy, and Sean Connery is Bond.

Iron Man, done in by an ankle!

Star Robert Downey Jr. was injured today on the set of Iron Man 3, which has caused the film to temporarily halt production.

"Robert Downey Jr. sustained an ankle injury on the set of Iron Man 3 in Wilmington, North Carolina while performing a stunt. There will be a short delay in the production schedule while he recuperates," said Marvel Studios in a statement.
