That doesn't have anything to do with the point.
But whatever.
But whatever.
When it comes to acting, Shia simply isn't in the same league as Ben. Hence, I'm not worried.
The fact that you even have to make this statement to anyone.... makes you realize why they put "non edible" warnings on packing materials.
Kingsley is a good actor who could be choosier about his roles. Bloodrayne. Say no more.
Gene Hackman had that problem too. Great actor, but in his later career I lost track of how many times I wondered "why is he in this piece of crap?"
They're renowned for the chops they've shown in their best work.
But IMO they're not in the category of actors that consistently put out top quality work.
No doubt you put Bale in the latter?

Believe it or not, I think he belongs in the first category, as does Liam Neeson.
I'd put Gary Oldman and Michael Caine in the 2nd category though.
Michael Caine is a fantastic actor. He also was in Jaws 3-D. He used to run an actor's workshop and by his own admission considered himself a 'working actor' who was sometimes there just for the paycheck.

Both of your choices for the better category have their fair share of **** films too though. 5th Element was certainly a WTF for Oldman and Caine has things like Journey 2 and Gnomeo & Juliet on his long list of WTFs. I think every actor has those films on their resume.
I wasn't expecting anything less from Mr Kingsley. He's an awesome actor!
Sexy Beast should put to rest any doubts as to whether he can play utter menace.
And superhero movies that really work must have a good villain.
I thought Gary Oldman was brilliant in the 5th Element.
But yeah everyone has spots on their Resume, i'm just differentiating between those that have a few spots from those that have full blown split coffee stains
Gary was pretty awesome in The Professional. Dracula was overrated and while I liked 5th Element, it wasn't the greatest stuff I've seen him do. As a pure character study, LHO in JFK is rarely matched. His Gordon is tops though. I have to catch his Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy sometime.
I grew up with Kingsley's Ghandi, his turn in Schindler's List was amazing, and then his thoroughly convincing performance as a psychotic bastard in Sexy Beast rocked my world! Even a phoned-in performance from this guy would be preferrable to a huge swath of hollywood hacks on their best day.
Excellent performance by him. I've liked him ever since. My church convined me to go see that film back in the day. Glad I did too.
