I've seen people on facebook saying "i got a good one" I look at their pics and it's the same POS everyone else got. I can't understand people wanting to keep something painted like this.
Not every collector sees things the same way. More importantly there are "issues" that bother die hard forum members that spend thousands of dollars annually that may not bother more casual collectors. In other words I think we need to be careful about assuming that the issues that we find unacceptable here in the forums are issues that bother every single collector. You know that old saying...different strokes for different folks.

You don't have to be a die hard forum member or spend thousands of dollars annually, to spot a sloppy paint job. Not that it matters but the pictures were taken in front of a pretty sweet collection, so hardly a noob. Probably just a die hard sideshow fan that thinks they can do no wrong.
What you or I define as a sloppy paint job may not be considered a sloppy paint job by someone else...that's all I am saying. If someone believes they have no issues on their IP, and you look at their pictures and determine the paint job is sloppy...obviously each individual has different criteria for what constitutes as a sloppy job. And just because someone doesn't think the paint job is sloppy, doesn't mean they are a die hard sideshow fan that thinks they can do no wrong. All it means is that they have a different opinion than yours...and they are happy their purchase.
I would actually think casual collectors will be more upset...they don't often spend $400 on a collectible and this is what they get? Hardcore collectors tend to have more money and thus some might just get a poorly painted statue repainted or simple deal with it cuz they can afford it. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule...I would just hope that even people who are willing to keep the statue at least admit it's not acceptable quality and ask for a partial refund or a replacement. At least this will become a notation in SSC's CS department...better than just ignoring the problem and continuing to allow this to go unnoticed.
Low standards eh? Cool i'll send these guys a message on FB. I have some real crap they might be interested in.
I get your point though.
Just my take...I feel that collectors that frequent statue forums and spend a good portion of their NDI on collectibles have very high expectations. Let me clear...there is nothing wrong with having high expectations. Particularly as these collectibles are not cheap.
But spend hours posting comments on any and all defects we find on piece. Some defects are more egregious than others...I get that. In general we heavily scrutinize in hand pictures, and any defect will be criticized for weeks on end. I am just as guilty of that as the next person. But when I speak to friends who are more casual fans of collecting...they may pick up a few pieces annually. They don't seem as bothered by some of these issues that draw the ire of so many forum members. One of those friends commented to me that I "nitpick the hell out of stuff" after pointing out some issues identified on the forums regarding other SS pieces. It just made me think that perhaps many forum members are bothered by these issues because we spend thousands on this hobby and the more you spend the higher your expectations become. Maybe I am way off base...but I was simply trying to see things from another point of view.
Are you guys concerned about the mark 42 yet?

Wanna here something even more worrying? Mine has just arrived and I don't want to open it up in fear of what I'll find
Wow! now that is shockingly bad! This is what I mean by sideshow allowing certain pieces to pass through the QC....what where they thinking?! I am stunned to see how badly this has been painted, not only that but the amount of inconsistent wavy lines, scratches and paint chips which could be seen clearly in your review.

Exactly how i felt when i got home from work today. A few year's ago i couldn't wait to crack open the box to see what was inside, but this i kinda already knew what i was letting myself in for.
Refund request & pissy email already sent off to Sideshow.
Can't wait to see your review....
I get what you're saying, and if that is who SS is catering to moving forward...well, we're all losers because of it.
