I still don't like the GG one..what's with all the black shadow paint...that doesn't look very good to me. The SSC one is worse paint but the pose and sculpt is better than GG. I wouldn't pay for either though If I had kept this, at the very least I would want one as good as Averone's and I would still ask for a partial refund. I would prob have the cheadle head repainted as well...that head is just plain BAD. It's a shame because with a good paint job, the likeness is probably pretty good. Someone get a good custom paintjob on the cheadle head! andy?

Yeah, It really isn't that hard, just takes a bit of prep and attention. Are you going for a refund then?

Bit disappointed, I didn't buy this but I was certainly planning to get the War Machine variant.

I'm not too sure why they went that route, dude. It surprised me too when I first saw in-hand pics of it, but it's very subtle and I got used to it after a while. I think the reason why they did it was to portray and/or simulate a weathered or dirty look to the paneling and lines of his armor. I guess it might've been done to add realism to the metallic finish of the armor. Kind of like dirty aircraft paneling and compartment doors. It looks very similar to that. (afterall, he does fly around in a metallic suit with repulsors that work just like jet engines)

If they were going that route, they should have pre shaded it. I.E put the black lines on first and painted over them which leaves a fine shadow. Aircraft kit builders do this to great affect. It is just unsubtle on the GG IP. Other than those dark lines though and the mar-mite base, he looks great.

Haha, you guys couldn't be more wrong when it comes to saying the GG piece looks like plastic. What the hell are you looking at that makes you think it looks plastic? It's as a metallic effect as it's gonna get to the movie version. Some dudes have been saying that the blue is too light a shade of blue. That's cool, but I can say the same thing about Sideshow's version, except I can say that I think Sideshow's blues and reds are too rich and deep and a little too much on the matte side.

There's different screencaps of Cheadle wearing the Patriot armor and in each shot the blues and reds looks different, so it's all in how the companies see the actual color of the armor and how the collectors view it. I think the blues and reds GG went with are pretty damn close. And they looks all sorts of metallic. The proof is in the in-hand pics in comparison to the screencap shots of Cheadle in the armor.

Look at this screenshot of Cheadle here and then look at the GG pics of their IP:

The color is close enough to warrant a purchase, and the light shines off the armor in the GG pics the same exact way it shines off the armor in the screencap pic highlighting the metallic appearance. So Andy and Averone, to say it looks like plastic sounds to me like you guys are a little butt-hurt that SS's been beaten by a lesser popular company and just trying to knock the GG piece down to Sideshow's level. You can't knock it, because there's no denying, out of the box and quality speaking, the GG piece is far superior.

I'm not Andy, and I'm not Averone...I'm not sitting on a mountain top of scrilla. So I can't just blow my money to buy Sideshow's low-qual version and then turn around to have it custom painted and then spend hundreds of dollars creating a backdrop for it so it can have it's own corner in my living room. With me, quality, uniqueness, and exclusivity sell and that's why I went with Gentle Giant.

Here is another screencap of Cheadle wearing the armor; however, the armor is much deeper in color, which resembles more of Sideshow's color they went with. So like I said, it all depends on how the companies and the collectors wanna see the color.

I had pretty much the same experience with my P1 bio and Alien Warrior LSB, it was all a bit disheartening tbh. I went direct to William when my Big chap LSB turned up rubbish. The outcome wasn't what I hoped for unfortunately due to the lack of replacements, but he's a decent guy and I left the whole thing with a bit of honest sympathy from him at least. I think it just depends who you get and on which day, we are all human I guess. Sorry though, I know how much this sucks from quite a bit of personal experience lately.

Good eye, dude. I took note of that too. Another part of the statue I noticed that's not exactly 100% accurate is when you look at the left and right sides of his face mask. In the pics below, you'll notice a much darker shade of gray color on the screencap version. However, the darker gray area isn't there on the GG version. They're both very minor inaccuracies, but it most definitely still doesn't take anything away from Iron Patriot. This version is awesome.

Yer have to agree the GG IP is Very limited and good value. The pose is good too .was tempted to PO . But just I went with the SSC version. But need to think very carefully about PO mark 42 . After their lottery QC .

The silver sections of paint are quite shiny. I'm kind of jelly that as soon as averone's pics show up some people are changing their tune when mine looks pretty darn the same in pics from a similar distance.

I can still see bad paint aps in averone's as well. His is probably minutely better though which can make a difference. I think his head is poorly painted as well though. None of these look great to me. I tend to only keep statues that I feel are homeruns. The only statue I still own that I didn't feel was a homerun but just had to keep was my Rogue PF EX. Some people are taking better pics in good lighting at mid viewing distances which helps a lot. I guess if you can accept that the paint apps are poor but they look ok at viewing distance, its not a big deal. To me, just knowing how bad they are when you get a little close just isn't good enough. I would not be happy had I kept my PO.

I can understand how you feel about that, it is something that would nag at you every time you looked at it even from afar just because you know it's there. I also have the Rogue PF EX!

In hand I can say that the most of the issues that crop up in my pictures like paint bleed and such aren't as accentuated, to me anyway. Only the paint on the head stands out to me as being really rough and throws off the look for the rest of it.

As above. One, barely, acceptable piece, that needs 'touching up', out of 10+ doesn't make for a quality 'high end' product.

That doesn't make it ok for you to insult people
