Is the SSC version better than this one as well?

:lol :lol :lol

thats why i said if mine turns out as good as Averone's did ;) if mine looked like that then i'd be doing Sideshow a massive favour and smashing the heck out of it! :yess:

I want close pics and no filters if you say you got a good one. :lecture ;)

Canceled mine. SS is starting to lose me a little bit. Not seeing the quality that should be there in some of these pieces, and the cost cutting is very obvious. CR Superman looks like he is wearing a towel for a cape (so cheap).

I am sure some of this stems from the factories they are contracting out, but if they can't meet a certain level of quality, then better to not even have some of these products in the marketplace.

Iron Patriot was never a must have for me. But would have been nice. Kind of baffling that with so much competion in this area, and competing products, this was deemed 'good enough'.

With a few slight paint touch ups I can get the SSC to be up to par to my standards.

..... people forget these are mass produced and will differ with each statue.

We shouldn't have to "touch up" a $400 statue, if we simply except poor quality without sending it back and letting them know then we will continue to receive poor quality items, our silence and acceptance of the shoddy product is our consent and approval of it.

Also these aren't what you would call "mass produced", iphones are mass produced, these are supposedly high-end, museum quality, limited edition, hand-painted collectables.

And because I have been critical of a Sideshow statue my post will now be deleted in 3...................2...................1

:lol :lol filters FTW!!! :yess:

Dont forget, i even got a refund for the Iron Patriot lifesize Bust cos that was painted horribly too! No doubts about it, if i dont think its acceptable then IP will suffer the same fate as the lifesize bust :(

:exactly:

Keeping shoddy statues like this hurts us all in the long run. If you want the Sideshow of old you have to take a stand. We'll get jumped on for saying anything against Sideshow but i really don't care. Sideshow of old made amazing statues you could enjoy from the get go. Now it's like a lottery.

Anyone who is happy with this piece, from what we've seen, needs their eyes testing.
Think I've seen 6-7 now and still not one without major flaws.

But apparently you need to get your eyes checked according to some people here.
I actually posted my comment before Averones pictures and if you bother to read it properly you'll notice the bold part ;)

As far as getting my eyes checked, all I got to say is LOL, the camera does not lie.
As above. One, barely, acceptable piece, that needs 'touching up', out of 10+ doesn't make for a quality 'high end' product.

Frankly, I'm shocked that this was attempted to be painted by hand, which is clearly not the way the paint was applied with the GG and IA pieces. This reminds me of the SS/W Theoden statue back in the day and the poorly painted chest armor.

Ok open mines . . Very similar to Averone quality from seeing pics. Which is not as bad as some I,ve seen. But not perfect. But think I,ll try keep mines .
Not bad looking in hand . Think I got a good average one. Little bit of smudges and most noticeable is a silver piece paint over with red? But is behind the knee.
But pose looks really nice IA paint is top notch. Can't compare . Wont even go there :lol.

Excuse the poor pics just quick pics .

My apologies ...this is not pointed to anyone here.

In all, these paint app on this statue is just plain bad. No sense sugar-coating it. Averone and Desisandy got one that look better than most, but still shows paint defects. We have seen how great paint app looks on this character. I wouldn't accept anything less, personally. I agree that if we keep accepting these defects, then it won't improve. There won't be any reason to.

The GG looks plastic to me. The colors are dull and not metallic looking at all. I have seen it in person and I still like the SSC legacy better.

The silver is not meant to be brushed silver BTW

Have to agree buddy :exactly: the Gentle Giant version looks plastic due to the dull colours and looks way less metallic than what the Sideshow version look like.

Haha, you guys couldn't be more wrong when it comes to saying the GG piece looks like plastic. What the hell are you looking at that makes you think it looks plastic? It's as a metallic effect as it's gonna get to the movie version. Some dudes have been saying that the blue is too light a shade of blue. That's cool, but I can say the same thing about Sideshow's version, except I can say that I think Sideshow's blues and reds are too rich and deep and a little too much on the matte side.

There's different screencaps of Cheadle wearing the Patriot armor and in each shot the blues and reds looks different, so it's all in how the companies see the actual color of the armor and how the collectors view it. I think the blues and reds GG went with are pretty damn close. And they look all sorts of metallic. The proof is in the in-hand pics in comparison to the screencap shots of Cheadle in the armor.

Look at this screenshot of Cheadle here and then look at the GG pics of their IP:

The color is close enough to warrant a purchase, and the light shines off the armor in the GG pics the same exact way it shines off the armor in the screencap pic highlighting the metallic appearance. So Andy and Averone, to say it looks like plastic sounds to me like you guys are a little butt-hurt that SS's been beaten by a lesser popular company and just trying to knock the GG piece down to Sideshow's level. You can't knock it, because there's no denying, out of the box and quality speaking, the GG piece is far superior.

I'm not Andy, and I'm not Averone...I'm not sitting on a mountain top of scrilla. So I can't just blow my money to buy Sideshow's low-qual version and then turn around to have it custom painted and then spend hundreds of dollars creating a backdrop for it so it can have it's own corner in my living room. With me, quality, uniqueness, and exclusivity sell and that's why I went with Gentle Giant.

Here is another screencap of Cheadle wearing the armor; however, the armor is much deeper in color, which resembles more of Sideshow's color they went with. So like I said, it all depends on how the companies and the collectors wanna see the color.
