The purpose of this thread is to simply bring attention to the fact that the response to what is arguably one of the most anticipated figures has been underwhelming and there are a few key areas where I and others believe improvements could be made.

Andy,
I got a response back from SSC regarding the thread.

Dear MeatHook SideshowFreaks,

Thank you for contacting us. I’ve gone ahead and forwarded your information to our development team to review. We do frequent the boards and are always looking for ways to improve a design if need be and just to keep in touch with our collectors. Hopefully we will address some of the mentioned aspects of the new Snake Eyes figure before production begins. Any news or updates on the Snake Eyes will be included in our weekly Newsletter.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you!

Best regards,

Hello,
Hopefully this message will be found by someone who can forward it to the production team of the Sideshow 1/6th GI Joe line. Here is a thread from the Sideshow Freaks board discussing aspects of the new SSC Sideshow Snake Eyes with Timber set

https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107883

While not all the comments are constructive ( as is the way of internet communities) the original poster and a few others are trying to constructively make comments and consumer concerns. One benefit of these online communities is they are a concentrated base of your target demographic for many of these products.

Again, if someone could forward the link to the thread discussion about the Snake Eyes and Timber product to the SSC GI Joe production team, it would be much appreciated. Maybe they can glean something useful for it, maybe they cannot, but as a consumer, I can say I tried to be part of a solution and not a part of the fanbase that wants change but does nothing to seek that end.

Thank you for being a fan friendly and generous company for hobbyists everywhere. I wish SSC nothing but great success in the future.

Aaawww snap!!!

All kidding aside, I'm looking forward to using this new visor headsculpt with my original SSC SE. I think that new sweater just needs to be a little smaller, although to be honest, I don't even think I will be displaying this new SE with the sweater. I would luv to see what this Prometheus body with these new "muscular arms" looks like without a shirt on. Does anybody know if there are any pix of it anywhere? As far as the goggles are concerned, I thought they looked a bit small when I first saw them, but looking at this pic it seems like they might be properly sized. I'm still not 100% convinced though.

There are pics of the new body in the Rock N Roll thread.

Here is the post.

:lol

Besides the goggled head sculpt, I don't need any major changes to the figure. No matter what, I'm going to change out sweater and gear. Just give me a ballistic mask like the statue please.

That sounds like more than 1 change you'd like to see. If you are going to change out the sweater and some gear as well then that sounds like you're not impressed with at least a few things.

Seriously, I'm never 100% happy with the gear that sideshow equips their figures with but I do like his weapons and timber.

I like the modular nature of SS's Joe gear. None of my SS Joes is kitted out with 100% of the gear they came with. I like to mix and match.

I'm probably going to jump on this line. I resisted initially because the first Snake Eyes was on a super loose prometheus body. Then they released some Joes I could live without. But now that they've produced a cobra viper, a competent Storm Shadow (hope they'll re-release that one), Zartan, with Baroness and Destro supposedly coming out in my lifetime, I'll probably jump on this bandwagon.

When I first saw the preview pics of Snake Eyes, I liked what I saw. I still like what I see. Yes 200 bucks is a lot, but there are a ton of accessories and I'm a sucker for Timber. I was about to order it and then I read the description "16 points of articulation". I know that this comes with different feet for kneeling poses, so that is 2 of the poses that are lost, but what are the other points of articulation that are sacrificed? At first I thought it was saying 16 points of articulation for Timber.

If it is the muscular arms that are inhibiting the articulation, is it not going to have Kung Fu action grip or what? Snake Eyes shouldn't have super muscular arms to begin with.

Someone please enlighten me on the sacrifices of poseability for this piece. :)

He's missing a double elbow join so his arms won't be able to get as close to his shoulders/chest as a standard Pro.

Ok, what are the other 8 points that are lost?

2 points for feet, remedied by the extra feet that are pre-posed for kneeling

2 points for ankles

4 points? (2 for each double elbow joint, 1 to allow the swivel in and out, and one for forearm?) to accomodate the muscular arms, much like the muscular armed true types.

So there is 24 points accounted for?....

I think it's a typo, honestly. It looks like the same body as Rock 'n Roll and he's listed at 30+. :huh
