Basically my opinion was their opinions stink.

Yeah, go for the "just be silly" that works better than trying to invoke Nazi argument.

I don't rate movies any more because the whole "based off it's merits" vs. "how the movie made me feel" gets all jumbled up and it becomes very hard to really get down and put a solid number on it.

I like this movie. I don't love it. The writing sucks. The Khan stuff isn't necessary, and Kirk's death really shouldn't have been in the movie.

But it was saved pretty much only by the great direction, acting, and action by J.J. He can make a film move. Pity he keeps using the same hack writers.

Nothing he has ever done has wow'd me, I'm hoping his game gets stepped up with SW VII; whether its writers, yadda yadda, or whatever.

He's impressed the hell out of me every single time, by making fun entertaining pictures. He doesn't want to do any more then that. He doesn't go too stupid, he stays right in the middle ground. Star Trek 2 is probably his "dumbest" film so far.

Star trek 2009 is the only movie of his I've ever watched multiple times, may be the only movie of his I even own. I've never felt an affinity for any shows hes been attached to (although I did watch most of PoI this season) (given I don't watch alot of TV). Is there something I should watch he did that I'm just going to want to rewatch and place in the coveted "well worn" pile? Or are you talking strictly movies hes worked on?

Super 8 and MI3 were both good, but they wouldn't make a list of top 10 movies if I'm stranded on a desert island with a magical player/TV combo.

Thats all I'm saying, when he tackles Star Wars, I'd like to see him up his game, whatever it takes and produce something that even the most ardent haters are going to choke on. Thats what the yadda yadda referred to... surround himself with great writers, creative team, etc...

Looked at your post count, 6 k in 2 years, figured it was as with all your comments hypocritical to tell someone to get a life. (you average the same amount as me, it's basic math) I'm fragile? Just saw this earlier, people giving it a 9/10, i don't care what you think of old Star Trek, but no matter how you judge this, it was average as **** with an incredibly poorly written story. I can't believe people rating it that high, so many of you have zero credibility.

6/10 barely above average based purely on the amount of money thrown at special effects and J.J.'s cinematography. If this is the "Movie of the summer" we're doomed.

You should be able to base your opinion on facts, or in this case various merits of the movie. The writing, the acting, cinematography etc. The story here is not close to perfect, it is riddled with plot holes and poor writing and forced cameos. I rate movies based on that system so that when I rate them it can give others a realistic idea on what to expect.

The good news is if you really don't care about your credibility or other's opinions theres no need to ever post on the internet again unless you just feel some strange need to validate yourself to yourself.

Thats all your opinion, the fact that you think that your opinion holds merit due to the "concepts" you've identified to form said opinion is just lack of insight on your part. Doesn't matter if you consider yourself a fine movie purveyor or a paid reviewer or just someone who goes to the movies with family or friends, each of those "opinions" is no better than another and different people will identify with each. But lack of insight of understanding that and claiming that "someone elses system of rating is less than yours because it doesn't meet your make believe criteria" really does make you ignorant. Just like you trying to invalidate someone elses ratings for not adhering to yours. More ignorance.

In my Opinion Niltusk's opinion about Deckard's Opinion would be much more valid if Deckard's Opinion was a different opinion about STID. But since, In My opinion, Deckard's Opinion was pretty much spot on, Niltusk Opinion is just wrong, in my opinion.

I was not overly excited by the trailer but I was not excited about the first Hobbit trailer either and I really enjoyed the film. Just as I am sure I will enjoy this new one
