The trailer for this has me interested in seeing this. Also since my local theater was one of the few AMC's to get an Imax that just adds to it. Plus the rumors of Pine as Hal Jordan has me even more intrigued as I'd like to see some more of his work since GL is a huge fav of mine.

Plus not to mention I kind of grew up on the original tv show.

Also check out the clip "Answer Me" (under the videos section) to get a better feel for how Quinto is acting. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

THAT'S the scene that bugged me, actually. quinto's spock just came across like some petulant brat. :lol

I just hope that SOMEWHERE in this film they have the original opening tones from TOS. When they did it in the one trailer it just seemed so perfect.

Well I just checked out Mr. Crawfords review of the Trek toys and .... garbage pure and simple. And to think I was actually excited to get them.

The last bit of the production to discuss is the score. Michael Giacchino’s music may be the most different thing about this new Star Trek film when compared to the scores from Horner or Goldsmith, although fans of his soundtracks from Lost, The Incredibles, Ratatouille will certainly recognize his signature stylings. His main theme is beautiful and uplifting and woven throughout the film. Also his almost tribal percussive themes for the Romulan sections of the film add to their menace and creepiness. And there is also a long portion in the opening sequence for the movie where Abrams essentially hands the storytelling over to Giacchino and the score, which is very emotional and unforgettable. Overall I like the score, but as a fanboy I was really hoping that Giacchino would have incorporated more stings from some of the great moments of The Original Series or the TOS era movies. He had done this with his past scores, like for Speed Racer and Mission: Impossible: III, but it seems here that he (and Abrams) wanted this score to have its own voice.

Looks like it's both and you can toggle between the updated one and the original.

Exactly. The fact that both the original and redone fx versions are included sole me on this set....heck, I paid more for the standard dvd one than this Blu version, so its a good deal (in comparison)

Mines on preorder, but I am a huge TOS fan. This is not an optional set for me...

I was gonna pass on the BD's, but that review is giving me second thoughts for sure. Now that I know that it's both versions, then I'm leaning more towards getting this set. :rock

I was the same way....but, it does sound like Paramount is (finally) pulling out the stops for a Star Trek set!

But I love em - even have the animated adventures on DVD

I'm afraid of buying Season one only to have them release all 3 seasons together in a special edition set. I might just wait and see.
