I bet the es is soo big. My retailer here already seeling it for $300 last week. I think ss wants to get sense on demand before setting the es.

With MJ being 6000 I can honestly say that this could be the first statue I have seen top 10 000 since I joined the hobby. I am sure it will at least rival Batman at 9500. Despite the 1/5 scale, and any other issues people have with it, this is still the first NEW Spiderman statue in awhile, and a crap load of new collectors are going to jump on it.

Although I DO prefer the 1:4 statues, in many cases there is no choice but to purchase smaller scale if the piece is really well done (such as the CS MOORE and some of the Bowen sculpts).

In this case I really love the MJ and the Spiderman pieces (even the elongated fingers) and plan on buying those but I do feel that a lower ES would definitely have made the pieces more attractive...to me. ED won't necessarily stop me from picking up a piece but it does feel better when you buy something that easily sells out and has the potential to rise in value even if you have no intention of ever selling it, in my opinion.

:goodpost: :exactly:
Since there is no EX on this I might as well order it in a couple of years time, or even more .... Am sure, this ,will still be available, almost everywhere...Honestly with this outrageous big ES's , I consider turning my interest on real limited edition statues like ARH ( not more than 500). But 5000?? 6000? 10000?? THIS IS A JOKE and SS am so disappointed in you ....:(

In the past SSC was a smaller company with a smaller overhead (fewer employees, facilities, etc, etc). I know collectors are upset with the higher ES pieces, but the thing is SSC will make MORE MONEY on THIS Spiderman then they use to make on many of their other big releases combined. If you were to combine their income for just the Batman PF, Superman PF, Spiderman PF, and Gladiator Hulk I wouldn't be surprised if it is double or triple that of any given year before they announced Batman, and I am betting they need it. Also, there are THAT many more collectors out there who are willing pay out the money for these select statues. You just have to look at Ivy, Joker, and Deadpool to see how fast these big ES statues are selling to KNOW there are more of us out there. Heck just look at the sheer number of new members HERE who have a join date after say June 2010. I wouldn't be surprised if there are almost as many "newbs" here as there are vets (if not more), and we are all new and LOOKING to get many of these characters that we missed before.

Now I am not going to be getting THIS Spiderman statues for several reasons, but none of them is the high ES we are SPECULATING it will have, and I don't fault SSC for making money where they can. The are a business, and in the end no one is forcing people to buy their product if they don't like their business model. Not even you.

U have a point there Spidey , but am afraid they might starting producing bigger(not as big as this line) ES on less known characters as well. Thereafter , we r the ones who have been supporting SS so many years. They could at least make EX's for us the freaks, who r willing to spend a little more to get that special extra on our statues . I see it as a small reward to us from SS. This whole new Spidey line hasn't got any Exs (from what it seems like). Am sure if they could add $20 or $30 on Exs this wouldn't hurt no one , no big deal for the devoting SS freaks......:wink1:

Can't blame SS for increasing the ES if people are still buying and they see how quickly the prices shoot up once items are sold out. People are selling for 50-100% mark up on the retail price on EBay and people still pay the prices. That's all money left on the table for SS.

Hopefully, like someone else already mentioned, they still produce smaller ES as well...perhaps for the less popular characters.

My only gripe is the EX....they should still be doing that IMO. Like someone else also mentioned, that little difference is what keeps the loyal fans coming back.

I'm surprised there is no Ex on this line. International buyers like myself will always source pieces without an Ex locally to save money. Meaning SS are making a smaller profit through ADs. The extra profit they must make from direct orders would easily cover the cost of a coh or another switch out part. A print will not, and never will, encourage me to order direct.

Is a large ES better than an OE? yes!

THIS line feels VERY BOWENesque to me, and that isnt an insult to Bowen. However, with their smaller scale, more comic book like colors, and their basic designs based off of J Scott's work they have that Bowen feel to me. Which is TOTALLY fine. I do agree though that the NO EX thing feels like a mistake to me. These may not really hold their value down the road. I am not sure though that SSC won't include prints with these anyways though.

"Not a thing... No blood, no bodies... We hit nothing!"

:hi5: Might add that :rotfl

Nice sig man... Did you make that yourself??

I have heard that SSC is starting to squeeze out at least some of the smaller ADs though. I am truly wondering if this is just the start of a more comic based 1/5 line.

I wish I was that talented Shawn.

Well the artist who made it is damn talented ... I tried to make an animated gif sig and it was to big.... Lol.

I'm calling it now....

I smell 'variant' for the future. :lecture

It's possible

If they start pulling variant statues out for all of their large ES statues (Batman, Superman, maybe Spiderman, Gladiator Hulk) there will be a lot of collectors who sit back and just wait to see what happens. Which will effet their ottom line in a big way. I know they have done that befor, but many of those statues already had Exs and lower runs.

Who knows. They MAY actually sell all of them if the edition size is what I think it'll be (based on MJ and Gwen). But it would definitely be awesome, especially IF we got something for 'Black and White' Friday.
