Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

It still looks like Craig *might* look in 20 years time. Too many wrinkles. Make the hair white and you've got convalescence Craig. ;)

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

In plain english then: The snyderman sculpt is pretty bad. No better than any of the other sculpts that don't really look like Craig. Just different.

While it's somewhat realistic (photo-realistic) it looks like a wrinkled prune. It doesn't look like Craig in any movie or any publicity photo. Your image actually makes the sculpt look better than I've seen it in other photos because it's overexposed, blowing out some detail.

Seriously, compare that sculpt to any image pulled from any of his movies or that you might find on the web. Then do the same thing to the newer simplz sculpt, which is probably the best to have ever been released as far as the face goes - too bad about the hair and the size.

But what do I know. At least it doesn't look like a cartoon version of Bond like the Sideshow Connery. ;)

i have compared it to film stills, and still think it's pretty darn close. agree to disagree then, i think the simplz sculpt is pretty horrible, not much better to me then the roadshow one. to each his own though, i'm happy with what i have and personally think it's one of the better sculpts available.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Anyway, I didn't want to rant, I'm pretty sure all these opinions of the various existing sculpts have been discussed to death.

Here's my effort. I'm one of the worst futzers out there and just can't get the tie to fit right in the collar :/

That may be true, but that hand-held image, apart from the size of the head, is one of the best Craig Bond 1/6 representations I've yet seen (ever!). By playing with lens focal length and figure positioning, it seem very possible to hide the smaller head proportion as we're seeing in some other photos too.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Received my Pierce Brosnan Bond head from Spenser today and I really like it. I put it with the Natchan tux that was made for Daniel Craig. Pierce Brosnan was my second favorite Bond (after Sean Connery) but this is now may favorite Bond figure.

Please excuse the poor picture.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

finally finished putting my craig bond together, he's made up of snyderman's skyfall head (with a slight hair resculpt to match casino), brothers production tuxedo jacket, bow tie, and pants, ssc p99, and hot toys phil coulson shirt (which i had to bleach white), and shoes.

pretty happy with the results.

Wow that's the best Craig Bond I've seen!

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

These older suits don't fit as snugly as the new toy city ones . But here u can see body with the head off and on my brothers production Bond . The narrow with a good suit looks slimmer , than the same body on the tony body , tony body also shorten feet , it has beet shoes that lower it, . My iPad pics horizontal pics gets squish looking sculpts and the diagonal gets stretched :D.

Ah hah,

I've got it, I know why yours looks different and almost better. It's the hair, you lightened yours and the eye is drawn to it. It accentuates the conehead and makes the head look bigger.

In Wanderer's pic the hair is as standard and the eye is drawn to the head as a whole which makes it look the size it actually is which is too small.

Right, that's settled, the Simplz head is too small, simples!

NEXT!!!

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Is your narrow body with seperate neck or in one piece.Sorry, but could you make one unbattoned shirt pic?

The neck is separate. Just like your body , I think the neck is same length also . I just think is cause I position the head and neck down ward more , makes mine look shorter.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Oh, yeah,

One thing I have done with my Narrow TT for Bond is to use a neck from the Advanced TT as it gives the neck a bit more length which helps with collars.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

yeah snyderman's skyfall sculpt is pretty spot on especially in hand, not perfect mind you, but much better then the casino royale one he did. and it's a lot closer then most of the craig sculpts i've seen imo.

They reworked that Casino Royale sculpt at least twice. The pictures of the head on here and on ebay never got changed out to what the final sculpt looks like. LOL at the remark that this head was too wrinkled. The Snyder-man detracts usually site not enough detail as a reason to dismiss his head sculpts. Always amused at how their work is good enough for Disney and national television and commercials but gets nitpicked by amateur art directors on here.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Wow, they do work for Disney and TV, that means that Craig sculpt must not suck after all. :cuckoo:

Speaks to experience. Maybe I'm wrong but seems like someone with 15 years experience sculpting portraits MIGHT know a thing or two about it that most people don't grasp? It's obvious that everyone sees things differently. Realistically if someone sculpts Daniel Craig it either looks like him or it doesn't. Yet everyone posting here has a different opinion. Call me cuckoo all you want, but I've learned to appreciate experience and longevity in all forms of craftsmanship.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Sure, it's fine to value experience, but my comments regarding that sculpt don't speak about the talent of the sculptor. Anyone can produce work that's not on point. Maybe the sculpt came out exactly how they envisioned it. Maybe it wasn't supposed to look exactly like Craig to begin with - in that way it's a total success. As a photo-quality representation of Craig, it falls very very short.

Besides, you say this like there aren't other people here in the forums with much more than 15 years experience. On a related note, I know all kinds of people with far more than 15 years experience at their craft who make decent livings, but are far from great at it. This applies to all walks of life.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

It's all just opinions. I'm not sure what your background is but based on your opinions on the various sculpts that have been offered in this thread I don't see things the same way you do. I have talked to several 2 D portrait artist over the years as I am fascinated by the nature of billions of people on this planet yet each one looking unique. Capturing a likeness is something that even excellent artist struggle at. I tend to trust what little I have learned about it when judging wether or not to purchase a stock figure or a custom head. I also pay attention to reviews/feedback from people who have actually paid for the item I'm interested in. MRM offers custom work here so I would tend to give more credibility to his opinion than someone who is making judgment based on photos.

ah gotcha, i never saw what the final looks like, and agree with much of the other stuff you pointed out too.

as far as the sculpt goes in hand it isn't wrinkly at all, in fact i'd say it's lacking any skin texture and is rather smooth. what you see in the pic i posted is what the head looks like texture wise. the pic is hardly over exposed and all the details are visible. these threads make me laugh as so many members throw their opinions around like they're fact or some kind of law :rotfl and insist on arguing them as though everyone is suddenly going to agree with them (not just in here but everywhere on this forum). it's completely pointless, i mean it's one thing to voice your opinion, but to try to beat it into others and tell people that what they think is wrong and be insulting about it is really rude. it's just an opinion, it's not right or wrong. however, at the same time it's equally pointless to get offended if someone doesn't like what you like, i personally don't care what others think. i like what i like and i'm happy with what i have, and that's all that matters to me. anyway that's all i have to say on this, and will say no more about it. :peace

Then the next time that some well-informed person posts an opinion, instead of replying with some smart-*** comment like "check your eyes" you might want to take your own advice.

Seriously, I can't believe how defensive some people get about the sculpts they own. Look, some people own 3, 4 or 5 sculpts of the same character. You didn't sculpt it, so get over it.

And to the other he-said she-said yru - yes, I have a university and college art background. Not that it matters, because I'm also not blind and anyone with sight and half an ounce of common sense should feel free to comment on anything here.
