That is such a ridiculously massive call lol, and i hate transformers too, to the point where i havn't and probably will never bother watching it at all :p

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

I loved that movie. I dont know why. It was just interesting to watch. I loved DDL's weird ass character.

What I mean by this is simply, if this were promoted as yet another mindless summer blockbuster a la Transformers 2/ad naseum then my standards would be dramatically different then with what is supposed to be the torch bearer for all things cinema for the near future.

You might want to consider catching it again. After FOTR came out I was a little bit surprised that I didn't know exactly what to think about it, I knew I loved it, but there was something about it that I wasn't quite sure about due to my expectations. I saw it again and realized that just taking it as its own movie it became one of my favorites of all time.

I'm definitely not saying that will happen for you and Avatar, but you may find that you appreciate it much more than a mindless summer blockbuster after a second look. Sometimes with movies like these you need to see it once just to clear the palette, then again to truly appreciate it. Just a thought.

Check it out, Sigourney does her "Planet Earth" narration for Pandora:

That was a neat clip, although I've never heard Weaver's narration of Planet Earth. (I only have the Blu-ray version with the original British narration.)

I really dont let peoples religion, craziness (Tom Cruise) or political messages bother me in movies. I consider Bush to be one of our greatest presidents in history but I dont care if Cameron being Liberal throws in a few jabs and a message in his film. Its entertainment for the most part.

I completely understand your point...I can take a subtle innuendo of any of the aforementioned types. However, the shouting of an eco-message really irritates me and diminishes my enjoyment of the movie-going experience. While some saw a subtle message in Avatar, I felt as though two megaphones came with my glasses for JC's high-decibel implantation.

You may be right about Bush. According to Pandora in 2154, "shock and awe" still has remembrance 1 1/2 centuries later :D

So I went and rewatched Avatar today, regular theater (but still 3D) and it kicked so much more ass then when I saw it in the IMAX.

The 3D was very iffy in the IMAX so generally during many scenes my vision would split and I would get annoyed. But today the 3D was nearly perfect and I was just able to fully enjoy and experience the movie.

Have to say, with a 2nd viewing (plus the 3D working better) this has become my favorite movie of 2009 :rock :rock :rock

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

Did anyone here with prescription glasses see it in 3-D? I'd like to see it in 3-D but I'm concerned it will be totally obnoxious or look crappy through two pairs of glasses.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

Just saw it today, with my glasses on. The 3-d specs provided will fit over most frames, unless you've got some really freaky frame, or Coke-bottle 's. Enjoyed it thoroughly, despite the power failure which cost us the first 20 minutes. Have to catch it again with my contacts...PS

I saw it today - had no problems with the 3-D glasses on top of my
regular glasses.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

This movie was AWESOME! Loved it. Best thing I've ever seen, period. It was also incredibly emotionally charged, which is amazing because not even some live-action movies can establish such a connection with the audience and make you feel as if you were a part of that world. I actually was kinda bummed it had to end.

If they make a sequel, I would feel as if I had returned to Pandora for another adventure. It's not a movie, but an experience. LOL, that was so cliche... :)

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

Fracking film was THE BEST!!

I loved it, saw it on IMAX 3D and the effect, though subtle was really great.

So glad they stayed away from chucking things through the screen at you, so cheesy.

As already stated, it wasn't just a movie, it was an experience :chew

Thanks Kev that was excellent nice to revisit Pandora if only for a few minutes.:D

I think it was tongue in cheek and you mean the legend that is Sir David Attenborough.

where can i find the original avatar story as it was before it was edited for the movie?

I read up about the 3D technology and the IMAX 3D uses an older type of polarized 3D whereas in the regular theater with the RealD 3D they have a better method, the screen can mess up the polarization of the light in the IMAX whereas the RealD uses a silver screen to more accurately reflect the light back without changing it.

Still there's the shutter glasses which work the best but I don't think any place is using those since the glasses are so expensive.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

i think the film was great, story line, effect everything. nw i wonder how hot toys will make the figs.

I don't think this the "sequel" kind of movie. Seems like the story is now over. Done. That's all folks!

It got its message across and told its story, a sequel is not needed.

If there ever is a sequel, I am not watching it because I know that it will just suck after the first one. It would be like :horse
