Good Stuff! :rotfl

I never mentioned bug people, or repulsive, or hideous, I said non humanoid. The Na'vi look like big blue cat people with elf ears from World of Warcraft. They even have five fingers and five toes, and the female appears to have human like breasts.

I understand the love story aspect but wouldn't it be more interesting for a human in a truly alien form to fall in love with another alien? I just think the look of the aliens are a little unimaginative.

Regardless, we as humans need to relate to the characters. If they didnt look even a little like humans, we wouldnt care.

And to answer your question...yes. But would it be good? Doubtful. Just because I play as a Elite in Halo, doesnt mean I want to screw one. NowhatIsayin?

The Avatars age slower than humans so that is why its younger looking and as far as the nose, not sure. I have heard that her avatar was the first made so maybe they changed somewhere in the development years later.

These are some of the photos from the new Empire issue!
I love how the girl Na'vi looks....she gots plugs just like me!! And the Sigorney Weaver alien looks awesome too!

What I find very interesting is how this movie will be received. It is clearly meant for 3D. That I know. However, is it limited to theaters that can handle 3D? I only have one regular theater and one IMAX in my area. The regular theater is known for getting riff raff and there have been multiple shootings and car jackings there. So no one goes there. It's ashame too because it is a nice theater. The IMAX is in the city and they have one screen. Again it's in the city so they are not only limited to one screen but again the people willing to pay for parking and all that good stuff. So is this somehow going to be in 3D in all theaters? Or is it limited to just specialized theaters. If it is limited I can see where this movie may fail. We all don't live in huge cities and the general public may not "get it".

Thats the downside. It will also play in the Real D theaters as well.

And all the theaters around me have the RealD tech, so...i'll see this in 3D no matter what.

And theres also an IMAX about 40 minutes away. So I am set to go.

I do think this is going to be great, thanks to the 16 minutes. But I can totally understand the people who are kinda like "HUH?"

I think the RealD you speak of is the only theater that we have and it is in the not so good place. The place and area is fine. However, it just happens to be the only mall for miles and miles that is on the intercity bus route. Plus it is right down the road from the Ghetto. So again, lots of shootings and robberies and such. So most just stay away. Plus because of the riff raff mall security comes into each and every theater every 5 minutes with flash lights to see what people are doing.

I never understood why that company decided to invest so much money into a theater and didn't research the location. :duh

I also just thought of the reason why I think the Aliens look fake to me and why I just don't buy it as life like. Again Im not hating I am just saying why they don't look real to me.

Take the Alien and Predator movies. I can buy into the Predator. It looks like a real breathing creature! It seriously looks like that thing exists in the movies.

Now the Navi, look like a video game character to me. Why? I don't know. Maybe it is that they are all CG.

So that begs the old arguement that many have brought up. You know the one that says that you know it's CG so your brain tells you it isn't real and all that. Well my brain knows it's a guy in a predator suit and it looks real! Does that make any sense?

The same can be said for the Klingons in ST. I know they aren't real but they look real to me. I guess I am just a fan of traditional makeup. I just don't think we are at the point that CG can be passed for the real thing.

Sure the screenshots look fantastic! They look almost lifelike. However, the second they start to move you know it's CG. I just can't put my finger on it. :dunno

I think you're right about everything you said.

IMO, it's just too early to judge.

On the one hand, Cameron is about as technically proficient as you get in the film biz. He intentionally chose character designs that look animated - that's not a critique - they are not designed to look biologically real. They look like stretched out people with huge eyes and bright, bright skin coloring. So it could mean that he's so confident in the finished product that it won't make a difference - you'll be sold on the world, characters and story and you'll walk out satisfied, blown away, etc.

On the other hand, when any creative person works on something for an extended period of time you run into the peril of losing sight of how other people percieve it. Someone staring at animated character for a year becomes so used to it that they no longer see whether it's believable or not but just how it's working technically. It could be that Cameron is so in love with his idea and has worked so hard developing it that he's blind to the fact that, to the layman, it still just looks like a video game.

I'm not for or against the movie. I think Cameron has made some of the best scifi there is. That was long ago. Who knows who he is as a narrative filmmaker now?

I'm definitely curious, but I have to agree with Badmoon about the trailer. My eyes see a cartoon with some real people. The motion of the characters is extremely animated. Right now I'm assuming Cameron knows that and is not banking on realism. We'll see soon enough.
