Hurt Locker might not win--considering the move one of its producers pulled.

What happened?

And it's funny because apparently he did it like a week ago and didn't apologize until just recently when the studio found out.

That shouldn't make a lick of difference. The Academy are simply a bunch of old farts who have lots of money.. Most are over 60. I believe Avatar will win for the same reason Jackson won for LOTR. Epic movie's that break records deserve to win best picture titles. Simple as that. The Oscar Academy want to have people watch next year and they know if Hurt Locker wins, the majority of the people watching would discredit the validity of the academy in choosing best picture.. Their voices wouldn't be important anymore.. This whole Hurt Locker producer is being given too much credit here if they lose..

You never know, the Academy may disregard Avatar and Hurt Locker altogether for best picture and give it to District 9!

This is what I pointed out a couple of pages ago, the Academy seems to be run by geriatrics.
Just one reason why I look forward to watching the Scream Awards which caters more for our type of genre movies.

How is Avatar not original, are those "Blue" people stolen from a SW or LOTR film. The film created a whole new World. The story maybe a Sci-Fi Dances with Wolves, but the picture itself is an original piece of art. You can change you TV channels all day, nothing looks like Avatar.

Then send media packages and free movies to all the acadamy voters. They put out full pages ads saying VOTE FOR ME! So him sending a letter doesn't really mean squat. I'm sure some probably send little bribs of goodies, etc. too. They probably won't vote for him or Hurt Locker because he didn't send a case of booze with the letter.

I think Avatar is a good movie, no doubt, but the awards for it should be geared more towards the special affects side of it.

Yes it was. It had great characters, and intense scenes. Really intense scenes.

It was an emotional rollercoaster with a fantastic look at these characters. Mostly it was about James. A really interesting character.

Stop trying to turn everything that isnt Avatar into crap. Avatar is not crap. But it's not solid gold either. Its inbetween. Great popcorn flick. Total fun, and shows why going to the movies is still fun.

But thats it. Maybe I just think that movies that should win oscars should have some depth to them....be something more then just a popcorn action flick, or something. Oh well. You'll probably say "i dont care abouht ur opinion". And then the discussion ends, and nothing comes out of it.

He actually never said Avatar wasn't good. People seem to read "I enjoyed Avatar. The special effects were great, but the story was kind of thin." as "Avatar is the worst movie evar omgz lolz!!!!!!!!!!!"

No. A movie has to be more then just fun to win. LOTR was a bit more. It had more then just cool effects, and a fun story. While it's not my cup of tea, It deserved to win because it wasnt run of the mill.

Avatar, WHILE AWESOME, isnt that amazing in the story and character department. Honestly, I never had a huge issue with the story and characters until it was nominated. That really ticks me off. Its not an oscar movie. And I know Cameron didnt make it so. He just made one hell of a good movie. I'm happy, and I LOVE that it made so much money. It totally deserved it! But not a best picture award. Not one bit.

dude im sorry but your everywhere im posting and telling me im wrong and all that, i could care less what you think of the movie just stop trying to correct me everythime i say somthing good about the movie for example

I say avatar was such a good movie.

this is you , Yea its a good movie but its a good popcorn movie at best.

I say the characters are awesome

this is you ,Yea but the character development was horrid ,inglorious had more depth.

just an example you can hate the movie but stop acting like im mindless if i like the movie its annoying.
