Actually, that is a great question! So, in terms of positioning, we really want to shoot for inart, while retaining the best of hot toys. As for pricing, we are limited by our sales numbers. That has the biggest influence on price, because our overhead is very low, and even the people who are reselling our Using the lowest margin possible, which is why I can say that while you spend almost the same amount as a hot toys, artisan piece, there is much more money going in, with extra head, sculpts, a custom seamless body, and a much more limited edition piece. For instance, we know that the absolute minimum run for hot toys is 10,000 pieces, with most of them being much higher, especially Batman stuff. So, with 2500 units sold on Catwoman we are making 10% of that, it’s even more limited edition than a typical artisan run and that is what increases the price because we make the same molds that they do, but we can use them much less. Also, with a hot toys, artisan piece, you don’t get an extra head sculpt, let alone two, and no custom seamless body as well. If you compare our prices to inart, they are very much the same, even though I think there we also offer more for the same price, simply because our margins are by far the lowest in the business and we Don’t have to pay a lot of wholesale and distributors to get our products to the end customer which saves you a lot of money.
Plus, if you compare 2500 units sold of our Catwoman versus their ledger joker which sold over 10,000 pieces, again you are getting much more limited edition stuff

Thank you for answering my question. I've a much better understanding on your pricing and positioning now, and it's completely reasonable.

Is this a certain fact and mentioned anywhere?

Most people outside of Hong Kong don't know how ordering Hot Toys locally works, but whenever a new figure is announced (e.g. Nicepool) locals can preorder at their bases, or on their eshop (not accessible outside HK). What I always wondered was how long are Hot Toy's preorder windows because at some point without warning the figure will be removed from preorder and if you wanted it but didn't preorder then you'd hope they have extra stock when it releases in a year's time. Hot Toys staff won't tell you the minimum run for their figures, apparently each one has a different quota, and when its met the preorders close.

Darth Maul 2.0 closed in a few months, the BvS Batman 2.0 was long around 10 months before closing, but the Feral Predator can still be preordered right now even though expected release here in HK was Q4 2024! This leads me to believe that PO windows that are still active means its either not selling well or has a higher quota which isn't met yet, and as it gets closer to release despite how much is sold, they will just cut the production to amount of preorders.

I know because their suppliers asked me for 10,000 minimums

feasibleness, but licensing for just one product would be a nightmare
If you could find a way around the licensing that would amazing. Nowhere sells a 1/6 motorbike (briefly researched) except model kits which I don’t count.

Anything close to it was. 1/10 Harley which is discontinued product now and sells for high aftermarket prices due to people wanting it for their Terminator figures.

You have seen my Iron Scavenger. No issues even though it was too tough for Hot Toys

“Iron Scavenger”? Isn’t that one of those “illegal” figures you wagged your finger at? :wink1:

Joking aside, this is a completely different game than that figure. “Iron Scavenger” didn’t have a human likeness, movable eyes, a seamless rubber body, etc.

Especially being Pfeiffer Catwoman, a figure which has notoriously been avoided by all the “big” companies (not even many customs), presumably due to the complex construction. Coming out swinging with that is a bold move - I sincerely hope it pays off.

I have my Catwoman paid off, I’m in for this ride, I’ll just feel a lot better when this is in-hand and looks good.

Actually making this is not the work of one factory, but half a dozen suppliers. All InArt and Hot Toys suppliers, no Dam Toys
That means a final product with HQ, glad to read that.

BTW, after this announcement, once more character from Burtonverse+licensed, will any possibility to continue with comics BATMAN 89? I mean, Billy Dee Williams as TWO FACE, now comics are canon and Sean Dabbs has hinted this character in the past...

All of that sounds nice but at the end of the day its the quality that will speak the loudest on the figures. Throwing in all these extras like sculpts and things sounds nice but if the quality isn't the best what difference does it make? I think the majority would rather have less but at the best possible quality offered vs having 5 head sculpts and the quality be so so. Hot Toys Artisans are in hand, we know what the quality is but as far as the Jazzinc figures its yet to be determined we have nothing physical to compare. We can talk margins and min order Qty's until we are blue in the face but the figure quality is what is going to speak the loudest and the consistency of the product.

I like having alternate heads and hands. It makes changing up displays way more fun.

Anything above Mars Toys quality for this release will be seen as a “win” to me. Hot Toys / InArt factories handling the movable eyes puts me at ease a bit.

Curious when we’ll see the first prototype / test of the movable eyes?

I get what you are saying but also to be fair if Jazzinc is going to charge InArt pricing I would expect alot more than just above Mars Toys.
