He still looks fine with the body. I will probably smooth out the hair that goes under the hat. I was just having fun.

that new sculpt looks thát much better than the previous! It's GREAT! All it needs is a little more polish and your done!

My Link sculpt is done with the exception of the neck, which I will add with Apoxie tomorrow. Now onto his clothes....

Also, the sword I ordered arrived today. Stopped by the craft store but forgot to grab something for his shield. Oh well...I have lots of other stuff to work on.

I tried the sword last night...it's really heavy and cumbersome! The figure is not strong enough to hold the sword's weight. Makes an ideal letter-opener, though.

I think I will have to craft a left hand to be able to grasp a sword--which I will now have to make (probably out of bass wood) and sculpey. I am sure that the 1:6 scale shield would have been quite heavy as well.

One thing I'm not sure you did Jess, but Link has earrings Can't tell if you sculpted those or if you're just not caring about earrings

Whoops! On both ears? I can just punch his ears and put real metal on later. No biggie. But thanks!!

Link's shield has been started. I slapped together two pieces of balsa and shaped it into a shield shape by whittling it and sanding it down. Then I plopped on some clay on top and proceeded to sculpt the curved part of the shield. It's baking in the oven now. I'll sand it smooth and then sculpt the edges and designs on that tomorrow. I also started his boots, so they are drying.

I had to cut apart a perfectly good pair of $27 gloves for this--but I was also using it for my Dr. Zaius gloves. I think that's why I haven't completed my Dr. Z gloves yet--because I felt bad about cutting down the gloves. Tomorrow if I have time I will sew the boot shafts and glue the rest of the boots together.

I also worked on the shirt that goes over the white shirt--I used the chimp inner sleeve material. It's too thick, but it looks beautiful. I need to look for a better material, one that will be thinner so my figure can hold its pose better. I wonder if I have anything I can cut apart in my closet...

Why am I so gung ho on this project? It's not even ape related!! I have been thinking about it...I guess it's because I have so many ongoing projects and keep starting new ones that I really have not completed one in a long time. I want to finish just this one for once...to prove that I can start something major and finish it spectacularly. And I guess I'm just doing it for myself. I haven't done a project for just myself in a long time. Sure...I have sculpts I am working on, etc...that's to improve my sculpting...but then those figures are not done. They're not even painted.

This Link figure will be completed by me. Soon, I hope...so I can say, yeah. I can do something and finish it.

Have to bake this in stages. Was so tempted to put the rivets on, but I have to sand the edges down further to smooth everything out. Guess I'll add the filigree and details on the next layer, along with the triangle and the topmost part of the shield...whatever that's called.
